Is every ?????? of wine or K’zayis of meat a mitzvah on Yom Tov? Because then those who got drunk on Simchas Torah may have done lots of mitzvah. (may be only on wine not shnaps)
It is a minhag to get drunk on simchas torah. That is why we duchen by shachris.
Lots of people were oiver bal tosif!!
Wisey: Why would it be? There’s no Mitzvas Achilah. There’s a Mitzvah of Simchah. And being drunk might be fun, but that’s not real Simchah. Nor is Stam eating meat.
Popa – that gives myself & my fellow kohanim a reason to drink but not anyone else… 🙂
Well I heard some drunk guys using foul language so viva la minhag.
Sam2 -If a K’zayis of meat causes simcha then two should be more simcha (and so with Yayin)
Maybe you should eat a whole cow? That way you’d be really sameach, no?
Well, forcing yourself to eat even though you are full doesn’t count as achilah so it wouldn’t be a mitzvah to eat a cow.
