What would you rather – Your post not posted at all, and an explanation emailed to you. Or your post edited and posted, and big EDITED at the end of it?

I’d choose an explanation. I doubt you expect the mods to do that, though. Oh, and I gather this is regarding your other post?;) Well, I feel for you. Don’t feel offended. They don’t even know you! (suppose that mod’s is that old foggie with bald head, cane, hunch, wrinkles, heavy accent…Who cares?)

Your description is totally off.
I think the “edited” notation should be lower case and not bold, so it doesn’t feel like a “potch” to the poster. Instead of bolding, use indenting (lower case).
I’d also prefer an edited comment than no comment, with the proviso that the editing does not change the original meaning of the comment or make it meaningless.

In a nutty way, every now and then I love getting the EDITED potch. It makes me look like a rebel!

I don’t think I’ve ever been *EDITED*, but when my posts get rejected I take it, not as a potch, but as a FRASK, & take it very personally; I usually go AWOL (AFK in computer-speak: away from keyboard), get a little introspective. …& then I come back.
I actually disagree with some of YWN’s hashkafos in regards to editing. I feel that they sometimes allow things that do not belong on YWN, and other things that have nothing wrong with them, they edit or don’t post. (I will not be surprised if they edit this post as well!!!)

Sometimes, the edit changes the meaning of the post, so it’s in the interest of accuracy that the EDITED tag is added.
