Anyone else feeling harassed by all the election phone calls and piles of mail from this primary election.

I have a young relative who is extremely ill, and every time the phone rings, I jump out of my skin. I can’t leave it off the hook, either. The only option is to listen to the phone ring (no turn off the ringer option). I finally answered one of the calls yesterday and got a live person. I told her that my vote is private and I would never tell someone on the phone for whom I plan to vote. She hung up really quickly.

September 10, 2013 1:10 pm at 1:10 pm #974223dafyomi2711Memberyes this election is by far the worst of the worst regarding all the annoyning phone calls and all the mail i decided not to vote for anyone who calls me or mails me anything. I even got phone calls over Yom Tov! shouldn’t they know better than that?
September 10, 2013 2:59 pm at 2:59 pm #974224yehudayonaParticipantMore like mildly annoyed. I screen calls with caller ID, and I put the mailings into the recycle bin. Yesterday, I got at least 10 pieces of mail from candidates, including several multiples (from same candidate, with same addressee).

However I have volunteered for numerous campaigns in my life & they always call voters because they wan’t to have an idea as to how they are polling in the race they are running for & to allow voters to know the issues of the Candidate, why you should vote for that candidate over someone else & to get the vote out. If phone calls are not made, no literature is sent out or the candidates do not do canvassing how are the voters supposed to know about what each candidate stands for especially in local races like City Council, Assembly, State Senator etc.

Besides for the personal satisfaction, if it’s for a candidate that’s not the one we want people voting for, the time wasted on you is time that can’t be spent calling someone else. And it’s possible that the caller will put you down on a “absolutely never call this ungrateful creep again” list, since they’re going to suffer and lose out if they call you again.
