It’s not about listening, it’s about tranmitting on these channels. Ham radios have dropped in price to the same levels as scanners so kids today are buying 2-way radios instead of scanners.
October 18, 2013 2:25 pm at 2:25 pm #1073217apushatayidParticipantListening in on emergency frequencies is voyeurism at its worst. It is a horrible middah and should be eradicated at as young an age as possible.
October 18, 2013 2:35 pm at 2:35 pm #1073218Little FroggieParticipantWhat’s so horrible about that? Maybe some people get a thrill out of it. I’m totally not into these things, but I think there’s a hobby related to scanners – police, fire etc. Some people obviously get a kick out of it.
October 18, 2013 3:27 pm at 3:27 pm #1073219heretohelpMemberListening in on other people in their worst moments of fear and danger for a thrill? Yeah, what’s wrong with that?
Sarcasm^
October 18, 2013 4:41 pm at 4:41 pm #1073220apushatayidParticipantYou see nothing wrong with getting a kick out of someone elses misfortune?
October 18, 2013 5:06 pm at 5:06 pm #1073221YentaParticipantDon’t know about you guys, but I am glued to this website
What’s wrong with following the crime and mayhem in NYC?
October 18, 2013 5:14 pm at 5:14 pm #1073222apushatayidParticipantlistening to 911 calls?
October 18, 2013 5:18 pm at 5:18 pm #1073223golferParticipantYenta, considering your name that is just great!!
😉
October 20, 2013 6:17 pm at 6:17 pm #1073224HealthParticipantGetzel – I don’t know about Twitter, but listening to Scanners Is not the same thing as transmitting on two-way radios.
October 20, 2013 6:33 pm at 6:33 pm #1073225YentaParticipantWhat is the BIG DEAL!?!?!?!
Are we not allowed to know the news in our neighborhoods?!?!?!?!?
See it for yourself. is there anything not nice here?
October 20, 2013 6:45 pm at 6:45 pm #1073226sharpMemberI think it’s a bad habit. I don’t see the thrill in listening to emergency calls or scanners. These tragedies happen to real people and it’s more sad than fun.
October 20, 2013 8:22 pm at 8:22 pm #1073227GetzelParticipantListening to 911 and Hatzolah I would say is different to start. + I think it’s immature to listen to 911 as well.
October 20, 2013 9:02 pm at 9:02 pm #1073228apushatayidParticipantIf calls to hatzalah are what you consider breaking neighborhood news, you need to get a life. Quick.
October 20, 2013 9:08 pm at 9:08 pm #1073229showjoeParticipantyenta, howdid you get a link on the site?
October 20, 2013 11:24 pm at 11:24 pm #1073230–Participantyenta, howdid you get a link on the site?
While the rules don’t allow for links, whoever setup the forum software never bothered to set the option to prohibit links.
April 21, 2015 3:05 am at 3:05 am #1073231GetzelParticipantI have seen twitter accounts close but lately new ones popping up with reporting every Hatzolah call, where is the sensitivity?
April 21, 2015 4:55 am at 4:55 am #1073232JosephParticipantWB Getzel!

April 21, 2015 4:52 pm at 4:52 pm #1073235👑RebYidd23ParticipantWhile the forum software does not block links, aren’t the mods supposed to? And that link is not appropriate.
April 21, 2015 7:54 pm at 7:54 pm #1073236GetzelParticipantOkay link was removed, now back on topic please.
