Do you think thats true? What about the people that always remain single?
January 22, 2013 4:14 am at 4:14 am #922038Veltz MeshugenerMemberI think I must be missing something about the question.
January 22, 2013 4:29 am at 4:29 am #922039playtimeMemberEvery pot has a lid. But If you don’t make an effort to put the lid on the pot, it”ll remain without a lid. And the lid without the pot.
And a watched pot never boils.
January 22, 2013 4:40 am at 4:40 am #922040147ParticipantThe lid is yes out there. Find it, and recognize it, when the correct lid does come thy way.
January 22, 2013 4:54 am at 4:54 am #922041☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNo, unfortunately, I don’t think it’s true. case in point: there are some people who remain single their entire lives.
January 22, 2013 7:02 am at 7:02 am #922042ShiraTobalaMemberHopefully everyone will find the right person at the right time!!
January 22, 2013 10:49 am at 10:49 am #922043yaakov doeParticipantThose who remain single didn’t find the lid or thought that it wasn’t the right lid. Hashem has a lid (beshert) for all.

Does a child who is given only a few years to live (l’a) have a bashert?
January 22, 2013 2:02 pm at 2:02 pm #922045JustHavingFunParticipantMy Farberware 1-1/2 qt. and 3 qt. saucepans have their own lids, but the 10″ skillet shares its lid with the 6 qt. Dutch oven. Is that against halacha?
January 22, 2013 2:23 pm at 2:23 pm #922046☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantJHF,
Are they Ashkenazi or Sefaradi?
January 22, 2013 3:54 pm at 3:54 pm #922047SabziMemberAre girls the pot or the lid?
Pot doesn’t need a lid…. ?
January 22, 2013 3:59 pm at 3:59 pm #922048just my hapenceParticipantJust thought the olam should know that the phrase is “every lid has a pot”. Not “every pot has a lid”. As has been observed not every pot has a lid but the only reason a lid would be made is to cover a pot, hence the necessity of pot given lid. Or in mathematical terms: (p)p|l = 1. Whereas (p)l|p < 1. We could possibly do a study on the incidence of pot/lid co-manufacture to determine a precise value for (p)l|p but I’m not sure I can be bothered.
What do you mean ‘this thread is about shidduchim’?

Good one! Keep the change.
January 22, 2013 7:05 pm at 7:05 pm #922050Torah613TorahParticipantThe question is, am I a pot or a lid?
January 22, 2013 7:12 pm at 7:12 pm #922051BSDMember“Just thought the olam should know that the phrase is “every lid has a pot”
How about every Yid has a pot.
January 22, 2013 7:38 pm at 7:38 pm #922052oomisParticipantThis IS about shidduchim, and every person has a shidduch meant for him,/her. Sometimes the person misses out because their zivug was not shayach for being “too short, too poor, too fat, too quiet, too plain, not a big enough learner, not a big enough earner, and any of the other million reasons why someone refuses to go out with someone and truly get to know that person well. Hashem called out our zivugim 40 days before we were born. It does’t mean we were all smart enough to follow His directive.
