“Low-fat diets and depression: Research suggests that low-fat diets may be associated with increased levels of depression. Experts note that consuming less than 45 grams of fat per day can worsen mental health, as fat is essential for proper brain function and mood management.
Quality of fat matters: The type of fat consumed plays a crucial role in mental health. Traditional fat sources such as olive oil, animal fats from meat and fish, and butter were found to be beneficial for reducing depressive symptoms, whereas low-fat or fatty junk food was linked to an increased risk of depression”

I work as a surgeon. There is no such thing as nutrition science. In medical school what we were taught was settled nutrition science the beginning of the semester was cast out by the end, replaced by a new for timed science. Eat a good healthy diet. Mostly fruits and vegetables and get protein in. Minimize processed foods. Aerobic and strength Exercise daily. It’s the same formula as it has always been. Be skeptical of any diet. Just eat healthy.

none2> low-fat diets may be associated with increased levels of depression

of course, but correlation is not causation – overweight leads to under-date to depression to diet.

Also doc, low fat isn’t a “diet” it’s a product sold in the stores and pushed by big pharma. Here let me do a better job:

“Recent research suggests that full-fat dairy may offer several health benefits, challenging previous assumptions that low-fat or fat-free dairy is always healthier. Studies indicate that full-fat dairy can contribute to better heart health, lower diabetes risk, and even support weight management.
Additionally, full-fat dairy may help you feel fuller for longer, which can aid in controlling calorie intake.

Heart Health: Research shows that full-fat dairy does not increase the risk of heart disease and may even be linked to a lower risk of heart disease and stroke.
Some studies suggest that fermented full-fat dairy products like yogurt and cheese may have additional heart benefits due to their probiotic content”
It’s imperitive people are aware of what they are doing so they make better choices for their health. Low fat foods and lack of fats in diets, which big pharma has been pushing for the last fifty years causes mass anxiety and stress and leads to heart issues. Just so people should know. Eat full fat.

Also I love how you think just cause you learn it or didn’t learn it makes it irrelevant the fact that you know nothing about nutrition means you know nothing about the root cause of desease which is lifestyle related. So….

Correlation is not causation. Sounds like someone trying to brainwash you

Correlation doesn’t equal causation really. So if a tree fell on my head there’s no correlation to why I have a bump on my head. Sounds like the system is sneakily trying to make you believe only what they say not what you experience. Critical thinking is dead eh?

Anyways doc ear fruits and vegetables….theres countless studies showing that’s actually very bad for digestion. The societies that have the best health eat traditional foods, fat from meat and cooked foods and organ meats etc etc.

none2.0 No, correlation does not equal causation.
And although critical thinking is not dead, you might well have a nasty welt on your head from that tree falling on it.

Just because a tree fell on your head on a night that had a full moon, doesn’t mean the moon caused the tree to fall on you.
And my condolences to your family on your TBI from the tree.

I don’t have much input on the rest of the conversation because I frankly don’t care that much (although I would echo Keith’s statement to “Be skeptical of any diet. Just eat healthy.” and generally tend to agree with you that not all fats are created equal).

The fact is that, while correlation may suggest causation, correlation does not, in fact, imply it. For example, there is a very strong correlation between wearing lipstick and certain female cancers, but no sane person would say that lipstick causes cancer.

    #2428101

while correlation does not imply causation, it is usually a necessary condition. so, outside of ridiculous examples, you start by noticing correlation, and then you explore a possibility of causation. And a possibility that Hashem is sending you a message here.

So, don’t ignore correlations. Say, your kid is upset or saying something inappropriate after a class X or after seeing a friend Y, worth exploring what that teacher or friend are saying. In terms of effect of others, there was a great experiment during covid (excluding those who did not believe in it) – some of the behaviors and opinions of the kids that we thought were their personal quirk turned out to change when outside of their social environment.

Fake news _nobody_ is correlating the tree falling on my head with the moon. Your using a very out of touch example that non person would use. If I was a witch and I knew about witchcraft maybe I could find numerology to say that because I walked under the tree at this time it happened because of the full moon.

Correlation doesn’t equal caution. Right. Keep telling yourself that.

Actually lipstick does cause cancer. As does pretty much all chemicals. Even soap has endocrine disrupting chemicals that will affect your body if used in excess. Every single item that has chemicals does affect you. It just depends how long you use them how often how much. I would actually recommend if someone has cancer to look at their routine and see if they are overusing chemicals in their skincare, haircare, and home. Excessive use can cause cancer.

Most people won’t get cancer cus somethings you need to use in excess but some people may develop allergies, headaches, lethargy….etc etc.

Who tought you about correlation doesn’t equal causation aka don’t trust your own experiences cuz you can’t think for yourself. That’s anothe way of saying it. Who tought you that how do you _know_ this concept. Someone tought you it with an agenda. Their name is big pharma. If they can convince you not to think for yourself. Then you will be easily brainwashed. Give me one real life example, something actually relevant where correlation doesn’t equal caution and not some brainwash retoric

The immediate effects of eating certain foods depends on your current microbiome. But different foods affect that microbiome in the long run.

Non political I will not read anything. The concept itself is another way of saying “you can’t trust your own experiences and discernment” I’m surprised people as intellectual as you all are still haven’t picked up what “correlation doesn’t equal causation” actually really is please check up something for me
“Cult tactics and how they change language to brainwash you” that should teach you what’s really going on.

The fact that all of you here instead of thinking into what I wrote right away went to cult speak and gaslighting, (not intentional I know) means you were all brainwashed really really well. I’m sirrpizdd you guys can’t see it. Big pharma is sly like a snake. Now let’s put that sentence aside and start thinking clearly, the things you eat and the things you do all impact your health. Somet things impact your health differently.
