A neighbors something or other gave them a nice amount of money but told them to use it to buy something for Shabbos. I think that’s a smart thing to do.

a challah dekel, challah tray, sterling silver knife, washing cup, dining room table and a few chairs, havdallah set(silver) and a mayim achronim! thats what i cherish. while i loved the cash nothing compared to the actual gifts i got.
Money is nice and appreciated, BUT a gift will always be remembered.
we paid for storage for gifts, we had a small place… so anything that could fit into a wallet was appreciated!
