I’m asking about Drummers you’ve seen at simchas or at Jewish concerts (Rush and Disturbed are not considered Jewish)
or any other jewish event
George Hooks, Chemi Soibelman, Matt Miller

Most older people dont know this, but a band can make or break a
simcha. Sometimes ppl get these corny oldie bands & the bochurim
try their best, as do the yingeleit, but it just hard to get
really into it if the guy keeps on messing up, or the drummer
drums like he’s in a marching band. Sometimes the band members
in general are not in sync with each other. This is extremely
frustrating, especially if you’re into music.
So choose your band & singer carefully.

January 6, 2011 3:59 pm at 3:59 pm #11177661dayatatimeParticipantPeople at simchas like to see a drummer who can go wild, which I also enjoy.
However,in my humble opinion, the criteria for a good drummer is one who can keep perfect timing, play odd-timing,the ability to play ambidextrous, discipline, creativity, and one who can listen to the band and as one-a team player.

January 6, 2011 4:24 pm at 4:24 pm #1117768apushatayidParticipantDrummers are like offensive linemen. You should never know their name. Keeping a beat and wildly banging to the beat, are 2 different things. Of course, if you want a showman….
