Not to be fooled by the “klein” name.

    This one appears NOT Jewish.

    From the news:

Trump appointee arrested in connection with Capitol riots: Politico report — Klein, 42, of Annandale, VA, is believed to be the first Trump appointee facing charges related to the Capitol insurrection. ..

    Info gathered online

Federico German Klein (42), Annandale, VA….relatives include Carolina Klein, Christian Klein…

Many Jewish surnames are shared with German surnames.

    Soeaking of surnames…

BTW, the opposite name in meaning of Klein, is surname Gross. Just as surnames Weiss/Schwartz.

They say, the Bardichever (‘מליץ יושר, בעל ה’קדושת לוי ) when the official came to hom, asking him for a surname to be established, he was בדבקות repeating דערבארימדיקער ‘the Compassionate’ towards Hashem. And the official wrote it down as a surname …That is the origin of this particular last name.

and since most non-frum Jews intermarry as often as not, and have been doing so for about 200 years (depending on when their ancestor was OTD), if a non-frum “Jew” has a Jewish surname, it is reasonable to suspect that the person has non-Jewish ancestry on the maternal line

Barry Goldwater and John Kerry (through grandfather) …had only paternal Jewish links…

@akuperma are you trolling? you do realize that paternal Jewish ancestry doesn’t raise or lower the odds of maternal Jewish ancestry?

And Madeleine Albright had two Jewish parents who brought up her up as a Christian.

He is, unfortunately, right in certain circumstances. In some corners of Jewish society, more than 50% of people are intermarried. Thus, having a non-Jewish last name increases a chance that the mother is Jewish (unless you are talking about several generations of intermarriage).

I presume this joke was posted here 4 years ago: what is the difference between Donald Trump and a Reform Jew? His grandchildren are Jewish.

RT: Cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger of Paris, who was a serious candidate to become Pope, was also Jewish.

Ileana Ros-Lehtinen is also halachically Jewish, but was raised as a Christian.

    “His grandchildren are Jewish.”

Joe Biden has Jewish grandkids, too. All three of his children who lived to adulthood married Jews.

Bruno Kreisky was Austria, not President of Austria. Chancellor is a much more powerful position. First sociailst Chancellor post WW2. And a bitter enemy of the State of Israel. We don’t need Jews like him in power.

Sen Dianne Feinstein may or may not be halachically Jewish. Her mother, who had some Jewish ancestry but practiced Christianity, sent Dianne to Catholic schools!

Having to figure out these things is whay I never want to be a rabbi.
