When walking down a street it is not difficult to figure out who is home and who is on vacation. Burglars know exactly what they are looking for. The point of the following vacation safety tips is to diffuse an opportunist by making them think that you are home. Please follow these safety tips carefully and you will decrease your chances of being burglarized.
If you are planning on being away:
In light of recent episodes in Baltimore & FL, do not call Shomrim. Only call the police. Shomrim have learned the hard way, not to get involved in such episodes for the foreseeable future.

You just wrote that shomrim learnt the hard way, which means that by now they already know what to do.
Therefore calling shomrim, makes sense.
However, I personally would call both, shomrim (sine they probably have a quicker response time) and 9-1-1.
