We all have one or two (or more) foods that as children/teenagers/adults thought we did not like and then found out that we actually love it and can’t have enough.

Mine was eggplant! I never ate it until once I tried someone’s amazing Eggplant Salad and I was hooked! Since then I have made this recipe many a Thursday night for “oneg Shabbos”!

I will not try broccoli even though I am told it is very good!

What food are you now enjoying after all those years of hate (OK, make that dislike…)?

What food do you still refuse to taste?

finally tasted sharp chrein n found it was fantastic on gefilte fish. I dont like tomatoes, so took me a long time to try pasta sauce which is now a part of my (practically) daily diet.

Most foods i dont like i’ve tasted, many i retaste every once in a while.

Wont taste? Sweet bread, pupeks, spinach smoothie (or any of that sort), beer since being given a taste at age 10 or so.

Used to hate, now love: avocado, liver, eggplant, beets, raw onions in salad

Used to hate, still hate: black licorice & anise, whisky, banana-flavored candy/drinks

I won’t eat p’tcha.EVER. (bli neder of course) I used to dislike falafel as a child, but then got hooked on it in E”Y in 1970. And believe it or not, there was a time in my life when you could not get me to even TOUCH a bowl of cholent, much less…ugh… eat it. Now I love it.

    Wow oomis, that’s bad!

“I won’t eat p’tcha.EVER. (bli neder of course)”

    Me too!

I don’t like tomatoes but will eat them in a salad. I do like Ketchup.

I will not drink alcoholic beverages except wine. A friend once gave me a tiny bit of beer that contains no alcohol (I know there’s a name for it, but I don’t know these stuff). I tasted it and, “Yuck!”, it didn’t taste good at all!

Was popa answering my first question or second?!

The Goq™, how are you? Remembering the “old days” when I used to be here a lot more and we had some great times together!

I am the the same way about olives.

As to my yichus, well… my mom and dad LOVED my mom’s cholent. It was not a childhood favorite of mine, because it looked to me like something I had already eaten and thrown up. Took many years for me to acquire the taste, but it eventually grew on me.

I also said I would never try Sushi, but I did and it’s not bad, and some of it is really good. Not a food fave of mine, but I can enjoy it once in a while.
