When given the choice between jewelry and a fire, my baby reaches for the fire. Every time.
Does this mean he can’t become like Moshe Rabbeinu?
August 20, 2015 3:42 am at 3:42 am #1110902JosephParticipantIt’s the malach pushing him towards the fire.
August 20, 2015 3:42 am at 3:42 am #1110903☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantEither that, or the malach is keeping quite busy.
August 20, 2015 4:22 am at 4:22 am #1110904👑RebYidd23ParticipantWhy is your baby given the opportunity to choose between jewel and flame?
August 20, 2015 4:50 am at 4:50 am #1110905Torah613TorahParticipantRebYidd: Because my husband made a fire (quite safely in a firepit) and the baby (who I was holding very tightly) kept on trying to get closer to it. So I showed him some shiny things, hoping it would distract him. It didn’t work.
August 20, 2015 7:52 am at 7:52 am #1110906theprof1ParticipantFire is a physical manifestation of a human soul. Fire is a heavenly creation that G-d gave humans in order to function well, as in cooking and heating. That’s why the fire is constantly shaking. It’s trying to reach up and return to its proper place in heaven. The baby’s pure holy neshomo feels this and tries to reach out to the fire. The babt’s neshomo has no need for fancy jewelry. Moishe Rabbeinu on the other hand, his neshomo felt the future that he would be the one to topple Pharoah’s crown and kingdom.
August 20, 2015 12:40 pm at 12:40 pm #1110907☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI feel bad for you, that you have a husband too cheap to spring for a decent normal oven.
August 20, 2015 12:41 pm at 12:41 pm #1110908Happy Go Lucky!!ParticipantNot bad, Prof. Made it up yourself?
August 20, 2015 1:01 pm at 1:01 pm #1110909🍫Syag LchochmaParticipanta firepit? no worries Torah, he will grow up to be another avraham avinu!
August 20, 2015 1:51 pm at 1:51 pm #1110911apushatayidParticipant“It didn’t work.”
Perhaps it’s because Parohs jewelry was real, not costume?
August 20, 2015 3:02 pm at 3:02 pm #1110912👑RebYidd23ParticipantJewelry is shallow and useless. It is pretty to look at, but nothing more. Fire is beautiful, useful and powerful.
August 20, 2015 3:38 pm at 3:38 pm #1110913gofishMemberNot true. There is great significance to jewelry. Learn about the significance of Chava’s jewelry and how women are meant to use their jewelry as a connector.
August 20, 2015 3:40 pm at 3:40 pm #1110914popa_bar_abbaParticipantWhy is your baby given the opportunity to choose between jewel and flame?
Questions like that are why your kids aren’t even going to have a chance at being moshe rabeinu.
August 20, 2015 5:42 pm at 5:42 pm #1110915👑RebYidd23ParticipantI don’t want my kids to be Moshe. There was already a Moshe.
August 20, 2015 10:11 pm at 10:11 pm #1110916squeakParticipantYou need to show him unconditional love. And daven. For anyone else out there having babies learn from this and teach them to choose wisely when theyre young before they develop their own preferences.
My CRT responses are usually longer but I skipped the first part of the response that was to validate your concerns because I prefer telling people what to do, especially if its useless banalities.
August 20, 2015 11:02 pm at 11:02 pm #1110917apushatayidParticipantI’m waiting for punch line
August 21, 2015 1:56 am at 1:56 am #1110918zogt_besserParticipantmistama you need better jewelry. a baby can tell if something is cheap or not.
August 21, 2015 4:55 am at 4:55 am #1110919Torah613TorahParticipantThe Prof and Squeak: Well done.
Also, the jewelry was real.
November 5, 2015 9:24 pm at 9:24 pm #1110920Torah613TorahParticipantSo when given a choice between a window of a train and a siddur, he picked the siddur. I started to relax but then he went to the window. But then he saw the siddur and wanted it again.
He just can’t make up his mind.
November 5, 2015 9:36 pm at 9:36 pm #1110921JosephParticipantHe’s an up and coming Yaakov Avinu.
November 6, 2015 12:02 am at 12:02 am #1110922squeakParticipantWe know that children don’t yet have a yetzer tov, so the only possible reason he showed interest in the siddur was because of your tefillos for his neshama. And you almost beat the yetzer hara! Keep up the good work!
November 6, 2015 4:54 pm at 4:54 pm #1110923apushatayidParticipantwhat he really wants is to look out the window while holding the siddur.
