Fafoilte fish.
Really, people, I think there’s so much variance in the food
that you can hardly say categorically that you don’t like it.
(I prefer the soft, sweet variety which I think is more
typical of homemade [or possibly chassidish] gefilte fish
over the more bland or even sharp commercial products.)
November 1, 2015 11:45 pm at 11:45 pm #1110936eclipseMember1. Kosher l’pesach gefilte fish have more actual fish in it so they usually taste better.
2. Salmon (fillet)
3.a slice of cantaloupe/a fruit cup
4. Tiny meatballs over rice
5. Chopped liver/egg salad
6. Anything that looks like an appetizing appetizer

[The Goq and Syag Lchochma, please take notice 🙂 ]
In defense of zahavasdad, there’s more to food than taste. If someone does not like the idea of ground or minced fish, he is not going to like gefilte fish, no matter how it is prepared. And that is ok.
And though I like all three, for me, I have to say that sushi > tuna salad >= gefilte fish.
November 3, 2015 7:18 pm at 7:18 pm #1110941apushatayidParticipantsushi is gefilte rice.
November 3, 2015 7:30 pm at 7:30 pm #1110942zahavasdadParticipantThere are several kinds of Sushi, There is a Sushi roll which is sushi rolled with Rice in seaweed, there is suhsi placed on a some rice and no seaweed and just plain sushi no rice or seaweed
November 3, 2015 7:50 pm at 7:50 pm #1110943🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantAvram – thank you!
and following your illustrative example:

November 3, 2015 8:00 pm at 8:00 pm #1110944Francorachel3ParticipantTry baking Geri, the with salsa on top.,. Spicy or mild. Delicious. Even kids love it.,,
November 3, 2015 8:08 pm at 8:08 pm #1110945zahavasdadParticipantMost Kosher sushi is either Tuna or Salmon

tuna > sushi > morning sickness for 4 months > gefilte fish
Funny!

November 4, 2015 12:54 pm at 12:54 pm #1110948eclipseMemberFirst time I had sushi I thought that wasabi was avocado… Hot!!!!
November 4, 2015 1:42 pm at 1:42 pm #1110949ilovetohockParticipantJelly fish
November 4, 2015 3:24 pm at 3:24 pm #1110950cent_centParticipantGreat alternative is a deconstructed sushi salad. It has components of sushi but none of the hassles of rolling and/or other preparations.
Basically, make some rice (no need for fancy rice – regular white will do).
Put on bottom of plate. Top with: diced cucumbers, avocados, and the fake crab. Top it all off with crushed french’s fried onions.
For the sauces: sprinkle some soy sauce. Then top with sweet sauce (aka Unagi or eel sauce) and spicy mayo.
Its seems like a lot of work but its really not. And it is really good.
Note: You can get the sweet sauce at kosher supermarkets in the sushi section or there are commercial brands too like Kikkoman.
November 5, 2015 3:36 pm at 3:36 pm #1110951Avram in MDParticipantzahavasdad,
If I told you that I slap the pickled ginger right on top of the sushi rolls like lox on a bagel – apparently a faux pas in the sushi eating world, but I’m not about to stop doing it – would you still drink wine that I touched?
November 5, 2015 4:03 pm at 4:03 pm #1110952zahavasdadParticipantI eat sushi with a fork, I can never figure out how to use chopsticks.
I will only drink the wine you touched if Its good stuff, I dont drink malaga or creme concord grape. generally all wine from new York is garbage and undrinkable
November 5, 2015 4:03 pm at 4:03 pm #1110953justsmile613ParticipantIf you dont like Gefilte Fish, you should really check your yichus..:)
November 5, 2015 5:36 pm at 5:36 pm #1110954Avram in MDParticipantzahavasdad,
I eat it with my bare hands.
I’m not a wine connoisseur, but in general the less like cough syrup it tastes, the more I like it.
November 5, 2015 6:12 pm at 6:12 pm #1110955zahavasdadParticipantgenerally I like Drier wine and usually like White wine better than red.
I cant usually afford to drink the good stuff , so i rarely drink it
November 5, 2015 7:31 pm at 7:31 pm #1110956BarryLS1ParticipantThe weirdest thing I’ve seen is Falsha Fish, which is made from chicken, but taste just like Gefilte Fish. Why bother?
November 5, 2015 8:21 pm at 8:21 pm #1110957JosephParticipantThe weirdest thing I’ve seen is Falsha Fish, which is made from chicken, but taste just like Gefilte Fish. Why bother?
Because sometimes the minhag is to not eat (real) fish.
November 5, 2015 8:39 pm at 8:39 pm #1110958☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantFalshe fish is better than the real thing.
Sometimes I refer to gefilte fish as falshe chicken.
November 5, 2015 9:05 pm at 9:05 pm #1110959flatbusherParticipantSome people have fish allergies. Also chicken is cheaper than fish.
I am not a fussy eater, but I still don’t understand the fuss people make about sushi.
November 5, 2015 9:20 pm at 9:20 pm #1110960Torah613TorahParticipantThis thread makes me want sushi every time I see it.

November 5, 2015 9:40 pm at 9:40 pm #1110962JosephParticipantI don’t either get why some people like sushi so much.
November 5, 2015 11:40 pm at 11:40 pm #1110963flatbusherParticipantWhy they like it so much. I have tasted it several time and stll don’t get the big deal
November 6, 2015 12:25 am at 12:25 am #1110964👑RebYidd23ParticipantI think sushi actually tastes different to different people.
November 6, 2015 12:40 am at 12:40 am #1110965JosephParticipantHow does it taste for you?
November 6, 2015 12:49 am at 12:49 am #1110966zahavasdadParticipantThere are different kinds of Sushi, Different fish has different tastes. Salomn tastes different than Tuna which tastes different than Yellow Tail
November 6, 2015 12:58 am at 12:58 am #1110967JosephParticipantRocks taste different than pebbles.
November 6, 2015 11:38 am at 11:38 am #1110968HOME ALONEMemberIt’s kinda interesting how sushi works. No one likes it the first time they taste it. But don’t give up guys, it definitely tastes better and better as you get used to the different kinda taste that it has… And then it’s like really really good. Totally worth it.
November 6, 2015 2:33 pm at 2:33 pm #1110969JosephParticipantIt’s kinda interesting how sushi works. No one likes it the first time they taste it. But don’t give up guys, it definitely tastes better and better as you get used to the different kinda taste that it has…
Nah, that’s only what people talk into themselves because they want to fit in and pretend to eventually start liking sushi because everyone else pretends to like that raw fish.
November 6, 2015 7:08 pm at 7:08 pm #1110970HOME ALONEMemberI actually eat the ones without the raw fish.
November 6, 2015 8:27 pm at 8:27 pm #1110971☢️ Rand0m3x 🎲ParticipantIf someone does not like the idea of ground or minced fish
Insert CR-typical joke about not liking the idea of a
particular food, but liking the food in practice.
