Does the fact that I have a mental illness make me fragile? I hope not!! I just wanna be considered a normal person!

If you think you are fragile you will make yourself fragile. If you believe you have inner strength you will find it. Your mental illness does NOT define you. As long as you find the right meds to help you there is no reason you can’t function to normal capacity. Stop harping on it. If you had diabetes would that define you. You would take your meds and get on with your life.

Normal? Who is normal? I have yet to meet a “normal” person. (Even outside the CR.)

aries- you’re right. I should just try and forget that I have this diagnosis. It doesn’t define me as a person…

shrek- true, no one is normal but I would like to be looked at as a somewhat normal person, not as a messed up person who isn’t right in her mind.

Sorry if this topic seems stupid, it was something I was curious about but now seems kind of dumb.

you would like to be looked at as a normal person–I bet most people DO see you as normal. do you froth at the mouth? pop psychotropic meds in public? lots have people carry a mental health diagnosis, but without a label stuck to your forhead, how would anyone know about it?
