k – we have a thread about southerners. i presume most posters are from bp, flatbush, lakewood, etc. (yes i know there are posters from many places. ex: midwest, Israel etc)

so,just wondering – who’s from the great neighborhood of the LES – the lower east side?

were you born, bred, and still live there?

were you born there but live elsewhere now?

were you born elsewhere and live there now?

i was born and bred there. still lived there a bit after i got married, then moved to bp for a while then to the midwest where we still reside.

mother in israel’s husband is from the les – anyone else?

I guess that means more than a minyan.

I think the Himmelsteins lived there. Heshy and Manny, Faigy… Sidney’s Sparklin Soda, Pencil Factory… Mrs. Pitkin, Anshei Kartafol…

My aunt and uncle also live there. They made our shidduch. And I have quite a few cousins and other relatives there. Definitely more than a minyan. 🙂

there are plenty orthodox jews there. quite a few busy shules. many young marrieds are there as well.

drive on grand street in the morning when parents are waiting for the school busses to pick up the kiddies and you will see i am right.

One of my close family members used to work in a eatery in the LES, there is a very nice yiddish community there including many students of MTJ (Mesivteh Tifares Yerushleyim).
