If you freeze milk, and defrost it after the exp date will it still taste good? How long will defrosted milk post exp date last?
Thanks

Defrosted milk will taste different. The higher the fat content, the more different it will taste. Once defrosted it will last about 2-3 days.
March 8, 2013 2:07 am at 2:07 am #935361SecularFrummyMemberI know a Chabad rabbi who holds cholov yisrael and gets frozen milk shipped to him from the U.S. If after the expiration date, you can consume is for about 2 days after thawing. Seems like a short amount of time.
March 8, 2013 2:32 am at 2:32 am #935362shnitzyMemberIt will only last one day before begining to sour.

With non-fat milk, it should be as good as fresh, with about the same shelf life after thawing. When we lived in a community where the cholov yisrael milk came in once a week, we used to freeze it.

March 8, 2013 3:19 am at 3:19 am #935365SecularFrummyMemberIt’s because non-fat milk still has milk in it. Even though it may say zero grams of fat per serving doesn’t mean there is no fat in the product…

March 8, 2013 4:50 pm at 4:50 pm #935367Torah613TorahParticipantTo me it doesn’t taste as good, but it will keep for at least a week or two after expiration.

In reality though, who can know? the results would be completely individual to each case.
