I don’t know how many people have this problem but from the people I asked it sounds like many people have this complaint. During hoshanos on sukkos we circle the bima with our Lulavim and for some reason many people think that part of the minhag is to squeeze yourself as close as possible to the bima and trample anyone in their path. There is no reason that in a small shul everyone should be trying to be in the center of everything it would be very helpful if people would know that its not that important to circle the bima in such close proximity when there is enough room a little further away. Please spread the word.
I try avoiding the center because of people that are so focused on the hoshanos cards that they can barely make out that there is someone in front of them.
There’s an app out there where you can see whats in front of you while reading the hoshanus so you don’t trip on anyone. I think its only available for the iPhone check it out it’s called the Lulov Companion. I wonder if anyone would use it
Since we say ein odom maisim atzmo rosho we can not believe him that he made such an announcement rather we believe that someone made such an announcement in his shul.
Either way I believe there’s no issue of ne’monus here because it’s a gillui milsa be’alma.
