I have a problem, can anyone help?

I’m looking for practical and original ideas that you’ve tried and it worked. Thanks!

    Do the Popa method.

You set your alarm for the absolute latest time you can get up without being too late for whatever you do first in the morning. Then, you need to get up when it goes off, so you do.

You need to be careful to not set it too early.

Don’t set it for 20 minutes before you need to be at shachris, because on a lazy day you’ll say “I only really need 10 minutes”. If you only need 10 minutes, set it for 10 minutes.

Also, keep in mind that you may not need to be exactly on time for wherever you are going. If you are going to school and you can be 10 minutes late, set it so you will always be that late, because this way you absolutely cannot be any later.

Obelix- Going to bed early no later than ten PM. helps. Wake at least several hours before you need to wake, so you have plenty of time to get ready and leave. Leave at least thirty to forty five minuits early to give yourself enough time to arrive at your destination on time. Eat your dinner meal several hours before going to sleep. Drink several hours before retiring, other wise your sleep will be interrupted using the wash room. Original ideas- Open the window a crack to let the nice crisp Winter Air enter, this will help for healthy restful sleep. Chamomile Tea, Valarian Root, Hops, Scullcap are examples of herbal teas to try that may help you sleep. Essential Oils- Chamomile (either Roman or German), Lavender, Marjoram Essential Oils dropped on your pillow will help you fall asleep. Good luck if these don’t work, I can suggest other ideas.

Scullcap is not a tea, it is a yarmulka.

    #745882

Pashuteh the plant is spelled either Skullcap or Scullcap. The Latin or Botanical Name is-Scutellaria Lateriflora. You can google if you want. I am spot on about Scullcap helping promote restful sleep.

i dont think there is anything to make this process easier, especially after staying up late! It’s really hard, and i guess that’s just the way it has to be! but at least it’s good to know that we’re not the only ones who are having a hard time with this! 😉

I got an alarm clock that also has a vibrator. It’s amazing – the first time it went off I thought there was an air raid siren, but it sure woke me up!

I don’t use it every day because I don’t want to get used to it – the vibrating alarm is great when you’re sleeping over and don’t want to wake anyone else, and the noise + vibrating is great when you’re going to be really tired in the AM and want to make SURE you get up.

Also, no alarm will work if you don’t get minimum sleep!! If you don’t go to sleep before 12 it will definitely be hard to get up in the morning, even if a herd of buffalo pours water on you as they stampede through your room dropped by a helicopter.

get that alarm clock that runs around the room singing- it’s annoying and it doesn’t stop until you chase after it and turn it off!!!!!!!

Yossi- Welcome back we missed you! Yes there are a couple of alarm clocks like this such as the one that has a little propeller on the top and when the alarm goes off the propeller flies and to “snooze” it you have to find the propeller and put it back on. Another alternative is to keep a screw driver next to your bed and when the alarm goes off just take out the batteries. I personally don’t wake up from an alarm so none of this will work for me.

    #745895

I agree with Popa. (for once)

or you can just buy the alarm clock with the flying disk. Its starts ringing and sets off this disk that flies around the room. It doesnt stop ringing until you find that disk (wherever it landed) and put it back on the clock

Thats bound to get you out of bed

If you use your cell phone as your alarm clock, you can keep changing the tune. That way, you won’t get used to the sound of the alarm clock.

So someone gave me a rly awesome idea bec i have this problem as well-if you like sleep then no matter wut alarm you have it wont do it-a)you have to think about the importance of waking up on time and b)set yourself just one day a week that you need to make sure to be up extra early-for example if you are used to waking up at 9 and rly you have to be up at 730 make sure that that day no matter wut you are OUT OF BED when that alarm rings-if u arent-punish urself-meaning if it wld be rly hard for you to say 1 hr of tehillim-if you wake up late that day-taht day you have to say

it all in a row-for example an hour wldnt do anything for me but i say 3 hrs in a row if i miss and trust me i dont wanna do that so i didnt miss it yet 🙂 some ppl works if you promis x amount of money to tzedoka -wtvr you rly dont wanna do-and even if you have to do it one time-it’ll never happen again-trust me gluck!

Thank you all so much for showing so much interest in my problem. A lot of your ideas are brilliant, and i cant wait to try them… In fact, i’ve decided to post what time i get up tomorrow, that should serve as incentive enough for me to be up at… NETZ… Keep ’em coming!

This one really works on my brother..If he is not out of bed by lets say 7:30 he knows he will get a cold cup of water on his head..At 7:29 he starts moving! 🙂

SO make s/o in charge of that delightful task..and tell them to actually carry out that threat if you arent moving..Maybe once you will actually need the cold water on your head…but a shock of cold water will really awaken you and make you jump! from then on you have learnt your lesson…you dont want to start your day wet and soggy and that will be your incentive to GET MOVING!!

(another tip just go to bed earlier)

i agree with frim- i set it for haf hour b4 i needa wake up and keep on clicking snooze, so when its time to wake up, im not TOTALLY sleeping (since i was sort of awake this past haf hour) but i did sleep… and i can get up not being so tired!

Here”s my idea. Post in the morning instead of at night. Me? I’m both an night owl and early bird. You’ll find me here at ALL hours. When there’s a craving…

A great way to wake up is get an annoying alarm clock (like the Modeh Ani alarm clock) and if you don’t wake up from it you’ll wake up from your roomates
