“The industry” has a very large hold in texting so a little caution won’t hurt.

So definitely wrong. Because it only leads to hanging out –> shomer negiah is out the window… You’re kidding yourself if you think otherwise. And it only gives you a bad reputation and your parents won’t trust you… You can tell yourself it’s just for fun but it gets way out of hand…

Csar: Interestingly, several of R’ Moshe’s concerns go away when there is no physical presence with each other. Even he might not hold that texting is D’Oraisa.

my veiw on this is that most teenagers dont know how to make correct dicisions (thats a whole nother topic i can go on forever about but bscly i think that the chinuch nowadays robs kids of teaching them how to think n that leads them to not know how to make good decisions so the second they realize e/t is laid out for them n its actaulyl pointless they dont know that theres a middle path n just go off the derech) which is why for the most part i dont think teenage girls n boys shoudl be texting!

There are certain places where you can’t complain about bittul zman without sounding a little funny. The coffeeroom is one of them.

Could I kindly stick in my little (pudgy) nose here?

I’m certainly not qualified to render any halachik decision. I will just state of one case of texting I know where it came to (let’s put it mildly – edited). Right, a frum looking (married) man texting to likewise opposite …

    Let the reader decide…

I believe it is definitely assur miDiOraysa, though how many issurim is a good question.

Regardless of how many issurim diOraysa AND diRabbanan, it is also extremely foolish behavior for both genders.
