Is it okay to give a used book as a gift?
Does it become more acceptable if it’s out of print?

Been there, done that! Why not?

My answer is that absolutely it’s okay and appreciated 🙂

In the case when a book was no longer in print, I gave the only copy that I could get my hands on. It was in good condition. Usually, I prefer to purchase a Very Good or Like New condition book as a gift.

What about giving used jewelry as a gift being acceptable?

as long as the condition looks like brand new then why not, the person getting the gift does not need to know where you got it from, to him let him think you just got it brand new from the store

If you buy a book and read and keep it clean that’s a beautiful gift

I would be quite turned off if someone gives me a used book as a gift

Fake jewelry, indistinguishable from real jewelry, as a gift?

Nothing fake is suitable as a gift. Used jewelry is only okay within a family.
Definitely not okay to pass off a used book as new.

How would anyone know the jewelry was used?

    That’s kind of the reason.
