If you, or someone you know, is in the market for a terrific ladies bike, there’s a bike shop near Central Park that has Trek 7100 low-step bikes for sale. Its from their rental bikes, and sell for close to $400 brand new.
They are listed on Craigslist, NY-bikes, search for Trek 7100 price range $125-$130, and you can see a photo.
Mens bikes (or ladies bikes without the low-rise bar) canbe gotten all the time. This model is pretty rare to find at this price, and in this condition (they are only about 6 months old)

October 28, 2010 2:07 pm at 2:07 pm #704441SacrilegeMemberHow did I know this was coming….
October 28, 2010 2:27 pm at 2:27 pm #704442HelpfulMemberSensitivity towards halacha?
October 28, 2010 2:34 pm at 2:34 pm #704443bptParticipantTznius issues? Helpful, if someone is on-line, tznius is a non-issue
I mean, hello.. did’nt you see where I wrote that the bikes are the low-step models? Those are the ones which preclude tznius issues.
And yes, Sac, I’m sure there’s gonna be a whole avalance of tznius posts; but that’s ok. If just 1 or 2 people get one of these bikes, its worth the grief.
October 28, 2010 2:39 pm at 2:39 pm #704444HelpfulMemberBPT: tznius is NEVER a non-issue. Nor should sensitivity towards halacha cause you grief.

October 28, 2010 5:51 pm at 5:51 pm #704446WIYMemberAt what age is it non tznius for a girl to ride a bike?
Don’t we see older teenaged girls riding bikes in the bungalow colonies?
October 28, 2010 6:05 pm at 6:05 pm #704447myfriendMemberIf you see it, it doesn’t make it okay. The problem is not what Jews do, but what Judaism says. Jews are imperfect – we know that and accept it – but Judaism is perfect, and unchangeable. We do not make over G-d in our own image.
October 28, 2010 6:16 pm at 6:16 pm #704448telegrokMemberWell, I’m glad that BP Totty broke the fence on this one, because now I can tell you all about a great deal on sweet and salty pork rinds . . .
Really – for those who abhor the thought of a girl riding a bike, can you envision that there may be times and places where it can be done in a way that meets your standards?
October 28, 2010 6:17 pm at 6:17 pm #704449bptParticipantOk, people, I appreciate your posts, in as so far as it keeps bumping this to the top, but this is really not about whether or not women should ride bikes.
So – If you do not feel its proper for a woman to ride a bike, thats fine.
If you feel that its Ok for a woman to ride a bike (tznius issues taken under consideration, naturaly) THEN YOU CAN GET A GREAT DEAL IF YOU ACT SOON!
(normally, I would’nt take a trhead hijack this seriouly, but we’re talkin’ bikes here, so this time, its personal ;(
