“Police detained an ultra-Orthodox man and woman after they tried to compel a fellow female passenger to sit at the back of a bus in an effort to enforce religious segregation.

The incident began when the Haredi man asked the female rider to change her seat on a No. 497 bus operated by the Egged company in the town of Beit Shemesh. In the ensuing fracas other ultra-Orthodox passengers prevented the driver from continuing the journey until the woman agreed to move from the seat she chose at the front.

The police were alerted and detained the Haredi man and his wife, who assisted him.

In response to the incident, ultra-Orthodox protesters stoned three other Egged buses as they traveled down the same street, smashing windows but causing no injuries. Two more people were arrested.

The driver said it was not his first time being attacked by Haredi crowds and that similar incidents had occurred in Jerusalem as well.” (Times of Israel)

With such fighting spirit they should be in the Army.

But whose army? Hareidi who see that Muslims as mortal enemies have enlisted for years. Do you really want them to take “fighting” to the next level? Remember the Hareidim did beat the Greeks (and we all know it was really the hiloni Jews they were fighting – we say Greeks so as not to hurt your feelings), but usually the rabbanim talk them out of hitting people.

akuperma- If you are correct that “chareidim who see Muslims as enemies have enlisted for years,” then why did only 10% of chareidi bachurim of draft age do any kind of army or national service the past 10 years??

Are you saying that 90% of all chareidim in Israel are anti-zionist and also do not see palestinians as a threat? Where do you pull these inane numbers from?

Joseph, as you seem to discredit whichever side you argue for, maybe you should start arguing for the opposition.

The buses skipped over Ramat Beit all today due to Chareidim throwing rocks and stones at every passing bus to protest against the arrest. This I know is true, I know people who skipped over it today.

73, but that’s exactly what he’s doing. Joseph is a politically liberal, yct graduate, college-educated homosexual fighting in the IDF. he comes on here and makes kanoim/extremists look very bad, and just sits and laughs…….

I wish I had been there. I would have thrown anything I could find at the police, and then at the bus, etc.

    We will outlive them.

Looks like Popa’s got some fighting spirit too.
