When it was Trump vs Biden in 2020 there were a lot of doomsday predictions for the Jews if Biden would win. Has it been that bad?

Inflation? Both parties signed on for multiple spending packages. COVID affected global trade and now we are starting to see the effects of it. The stock market did perform better during Trump than it did Biden. Usually after a bubble, there is some sort of correction. It’s unclear whether the inflation is the fault of Biden or his policies.

Israel and Anti-semitism: conditions in Israel have been relatively peaceful over the past 2 years. Obama and the Democrats are hostile to Netanyahu so it appears the future of US-Israel relations for at least the next two years could go south.

Border: Biden has been weak on immigration. The media isn’t covering it enough but there is a border crisis in AZ and Mayorkas isn’t letting the border patrol do their jobs to protect the homeland.
Afghanistan: the exit was not pretty but being stuck there without a plan wasn’t getting us anywhere.

Overall: He hasn’t been a great president. He hasn’t passed many of his programs that he set out to do. Much of his administration has been about reversing everything Trump did just for the sake of it and not for the betterment of the country. It also hasn’t been the doomsday scenario that much of the pundits said it would be.

With the midterm elections usually being a referendum on Biden, how will you vote?

Of course it hasn’t been that bad.
You’re right on re Inflation – after the country shut down, you expect things to just breeze on?
Obama may be hostile to Netanyahu, but since when do leaders of countries have to love each other?
As for Obama, he just came out with a very positive spin on the subject of antisemitism.
And didn’t Obama, as well as the current president, send tons of ammunition to help Israel defend itself? what else do you want them to do – lick the Israeli’s boots? I’ll tell you what Truman, such a darling among the jews, do for Israel? He put an arms embargo on the new State. And let’s not even mention that mamzer FDR.
So how dare Jews call Obama and Biden reshoiim. For shame!

As bad as Obama was in doing his job as president. Biden is wayyyyyyy worse doing his job like a machine.

That’s probably why they said he’s for’Biden’ from entering the white in the first place to be president.

The world never falls apart quickly after anyone is elected. The doomsday predictions about Trump were a lot less realized than ones about Biden. No, Trump did not set off a nuclear war when he was in a bad mood one night like they told us he would etc. But since this is discussing Biden I’ll focus in him.

I didn’t vote for Biden and he turned out a lot worse than I thought he would be. I did not expect the over 10% inflation (I know they claim it is less) the total incompetence when it comes to dealing with anything, and yes those who predicted that there would be an Israel-Gaza war within a few months of his election were correct. etc.

The above isn’t even my main issue with him. Back in 2020 I really believed that he was a centrist, and a person who would return us to the days of civility in politics , I really believed that he was a person far ahead of Trump in personal morals. Wow was I wrong. The guy is a crazy leftist , a pathological liar just like Trump and always looking for fights and to spew hatred and rancor just like Trump did. Other than his being born blessed with a more outwardly pleasent personality (and a press that is always looking to cover up for him) he is just like Trump. Without any of the good policies Trump enacted.

Some things are not predicatble. Biden had a behira to be a centrist or not. He achieved a position he was pining for so many years and he is old enough to know better. The first sign that he is not choosing well was when he came out and said that Trump did not leave him any vaccines. It went down from there.

As bad as Biden has been since the minute he stepped into the white House as president. I honestly can’t think of anything positive and good that he’s done for this country to help it improve and fix up from many issues including the bad economy to the COVID Coronavirus pandemic shutting down the entire country.

But let’s all make sure we’re on the same page here and don’t forget the most important thing we all need to know even when a person is C”V going through a very tough time and situation. We all know the fact that EVERYTHING HASHEM DOES IS FOR THE GOOD OF A PERSON OR COUNTRY ETC … And Hashem is currently the one who is really running this country and entire world not this old and corrupt man Biden……

Let’s all wake ourselves up to this realization ASAP so we can start heading towards a major fixup for this country DIRECTLY FROM HASHEM when Hashem sees that we openly realize that everything in life comes directly from Hashem….

Hakol byidei Shomayim chutz miyiras Shomayim…….
Yes literally everything from tiny bugs to big planes etc….

for Yidden in particular, the election has no good reason to get excited. Some of Biden’s supporters are anti-Jewish, as are some of Trump’s. Biden’s ambiguous foreign policy (back stabbing allies in Afghanistan which encourage the Russians to attack Ukraine, and giving Ukraine enough aid to survive but not win) does endanger Israel, as does Trump’s “America First” foreign policy (since that attitude changes Israel from an endangered ally to a foreign entanglement).

Economically, the Democrats “big spending” policies are highly inflationary, but many Yidden derive benefit from them. While the war in Ukraine (caused by Biden’s incompetence, coming after Trump’s neo-isolationism) is causing serious inflationary disruption in grain and energy markets, the Democrats “green” agenda is also a major source of disruption and price increases in the food and energy markets. Plus, the underlying cause of inflation is a falling labor supply, caused by a falling birthrate and lower immigration, none of which are really “Jewish issues”.

If you look at American history, the country is doing well from most perspectives. The poor have never been better off, minorities (even frum Jews) have more opportunities than ever. Most of the concern that the country is falling apart can be attributed to sensationalist media and the fools who believe them.

coffee, best defense of Biden I ever saw. Send him a message, he will start saying “Hashem made me do this”. Maybe he is more like Pharaoh, his behirah was taken away on the account of all his previous stubborn statements.

akuperma, agree on most points. If someone gets too concerned about current events, go to the library and open papers from any previous times and see how unhappy and worrying people were.

Of course, what is different now is that we see everything faster. If you read about German population attitudes during WW2 – they do not look different from what Russian population does now: similar attitude that the world is against us, thus we are doing what is needed to survive, and “look what they are doing to us” … any Nazi escalation included “we now call for peace”,” they started shooting across the border”. etc. You may get concerned – “but now you can see events in real time”. Note that German attitudes generally did not change towards the end of the war and shortly after. for example, during death marches from the camps in the last days of the war, Polish villages would generally help/feed the prisoners, while German would not.

    Aaq,

Are you saying it’s not true and an excuse? Now granted Hashem is ממליך מלכים so he does work things in teva (you wouldn’t find Ted cruz as president championing liberal policies)

    #2136615

Coffee, right, so he works through person’s natural qualities. Maybe your quote can be understood the following way: melech is elected by people, therefore, we deserve what we elected, and thus Hashem is reacting to our election decision, rather than personal decisions by the elected official. He is there to represent mitzvos and aveiros of the voters and to get corresponding rewards and punishments.
