A friend of mine were in New Haven yesterday for fireworks. Our 2 favorite places there to eat were closed (Claire’s and Edge of the Woods) and very little else was open. We went there for fireworks atop Edge Rock, which is beautiful and was so high up that shuttle buses were necessary to get us up there. We hiked the way up, which was a nice workout, but were concerned about how we’d get down, and how we’d get to the train station so late. Who sits next to us on the shuttle bus back? None other than a visibly frum couple! I started talking with the husband, and not only did he insist on giving us a ride to the station, he noticed we had time to kill before the last train, and asked if we were hungry. He insisted on having us in his home for a light meal, and sent us home with some Kitov flatbreads and cherries! Mi k’amcha yisrael!

We took Path Train to Exchange Place, and from there had an excellent view of Macy’s Fireworks, without all the massive crowding and having to come hours before.

BTW we had the foresight to buy our Path Tickets for our return journey before the show, knowing that after the show, the lines would be impossible.
