June 28, 2012 8:52 pm at 8:52 pm #884360SayIDidIt™ParticipantTri-State Faces 2nd Heat Wave of Year, Set to Start Friday
(Thursday, June 28th, 2012)
The tri-state area is bracing for another heat wave a week after stifling humidity and temperatures in the mid-90s baked the region for the first time this year.
Temperatures are expected to cap at 89 degrees Thursday with little humidity before surging into the muggy mid-90s Friday, Saturday and Sunday, meteorologists say.
An excessive heat watch is already in effect in southern New Jersey, and forecasters expect the watches and warnings to expand to more of the tri-state.
The heat wave is expected to officially begin Friday, with a few isolated morning storms giving way to a steamy 94 degrees and mostly sunny skies.
That trend continues Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the mid-90s, before slowly petering out early next week as strong to severe storms Monday afternoon break the heat by Tuesday.
Temperatures blazed across the metropolitan area last week, sending children to sprinklers as authorities urged people working outdoors to drink plenty of water and stay in the shade.

June 28, 2012 10:47 pm at 10:47 pm #884362SayIDidIt™ParticipantI think you are baking too many yummy cupcakes and the heat from your oven is causing these crazy heat waves. I suggest you give every person affected by your heat wave a free cupcake (make sure it is yummy of course) to compensate them for the damage!!!
June 29, 2012 1:42 pm at 1:42 pm #884363yummy cupcakeMembergreat idea! COME ONE COME ALL- FREE YUMMY CUPCAKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and don’t worry- the oven’s off…
