I’m a non-observant Jew living with three non-Jews and I’m trying to figure out how to up my observance. I can’t kosher my kitchen, so I’m stuck eating kosher-certified food I don’t need to cook or bake. I keep Shabbos and Yom Tov, and I’ve been able to kasher 1/7th of my house for Pesach, namely my room. Ideas would be welcome. Chag HaPesach Sameach!

It’s better that bachurim are in the cr than who knows where…..
March 23, 2023 9:27 pm at 9:27 pm #2176590ujmParticipantThe first step is to rent your own (possibly studio) apartment to live on your own.
March 24, 2023 1:12 am at 1:12 am #2176624AviraDeArahParticipantNo need to automatically assume it’s a fake post; what if there’s a 5 percent chance that it’s real and there’s a yid who needs help?
And ujm, renting an apartment is a tall order; while clearly the best option, kashrus can be kept among non observant people – just ask any BT kid.

But you really need to speak with a local Orthodox rabbi; if you don’t know of any, you can find one online. Doesn’t matter which community they’re from.

PS Matza bakeries are hiring.March 27, 2023 11:14 pm at 11:14 pm #2177603ChassidishBTParticipantDo you just hang out in the coffee room accusing various posters of trolling? I’m trying to get a legitimate answer to my question.

March 28, 2023 2:17 am at 2:17 am #2177616AviraDeArahParticipantThere’s also not an issue with seeing chometz that belongs to your non jewish roommates; they’re allowed to eat and own chometz… As long as you keep your area chometz free.
March 28, 2023 6:23 am at 6:23 am #2177641ChassidishBTParticipantGood to know, in which case I’m yotze.
