I am interested in purchasing a scanner to listen to the NYPD.
No, not because I’m a buff. But simply because I can. The same reason I own 14 guns. Do I need 14 guns? No. And you don’t “NEED” 6 hamburgers and 2 hotdogs every week either.
Getting back to the scanner. Can anyone help me out? How do I pick up the police on it?
January 1, 2013 2:11 am at 2:11 am #916885KozovMemberThere is no excuse for allowing this troll post through. Can anyone suggest similar forums to this one without the annoyance?
January 1, 2013 1:30 pm at 1:30 pm #916886YentaParticipantNo need to buy a scanner. You can listen at your computer for free. Check out Radioreference.com and click on live audio.
Great stuff.
January 1, 2013 2:39 pm at 2:39 pm #916887tzarich_zivugMemberOh my where have we got to?
January 1, 2013 4:07 pm at 4:07 pm #9168882scentsParticipantRadioreferrecne is a bit delayed, if your a buff it might not work for you..
however if you dont care hearing delayed stuff, it should work.
January 1, 2013 4:40 pm at 4:40 pm #916889hershiMemberWhat does delayed mean?
January 1, 2013 4:57 pm at 4:57 pm #916890dankMemberI’m going with Kozov on this one. This guy kinda sounds like a postal worker in the making. We’ll see ya on the 10 o’clock news buddy.
January 1, 2013 6:09 pm at 6:09 pm #9168912scentsParticipantdelayed means that what you here now, has really been said a few minutes ago.
January 1, 2013 6:58 pm at 6:58 pm #916892WIYMemberI sincerely hope you don’t own any guns and if yes I hope they never have to be used…no shortage of weirdos out there nebach.
January 1, 2013 7:35 pm at 7:35 pm #916893Torah613TorahParticipantWIY, I agree this guy is hopefully a fake.
And why would you go to YWN CR of all places for information? We’re not exactly violent people.
January 1, 2013 7:36 pm at 7:36 pm #9168942scentsParticipantWhat makes you think he is a weirdo?
January 1, 2013 7:40 pm at 7:40 pm #916895greatestMemberYeah, right. He owns 14 guns and lives in NYC (which is the only place NYPD can be picked up)?
Only if he’s this guy: http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/?p=150668
January 1, 2013 7:49 pm at 7:49 pm #916896NYPDParticipantI am not a troll, and was very serious about my question.
There are plenty of people who are interested in a multitude of hobbies. Not everyone is interested in arguing about whose rabbi is bigger, and if there is allowed to be a State of Israel or not.
Now that we cleared that up, are there any folks out there who have any info on this topic, which I find quite intriguing?
Thanks.
January 1, 2013 8:35 pm at 8:35 pm #916898natureParticipantFor Brooklyn, tune in to 471.2125MHz.
January 2, 2013 1:36 am at 1:36 am #916899cb1MemberThere isn’t one specific frequency for the entire NYPD. Each zone has their own frequency. For a listing of all the Zones + Frequencies please visit http://www.n2nov.net/nypd_ems.html
Also, before use of a police scanner, it would be wise to learn all the laws regarding a scanner (i.e. having a scanner in a car is illegal)
