So this will be my first rant ever on this site. I try to be nice and civilized but now I am mad, mad, literally foaming at the mouth!. I’m talking about you , Mr. white van driver guy, you who started honking when I was making a three point turn scaring me to death and back, then whizzing around me as I was reversing nearly clipping my bumper. then you decide to drive slowly in front of me to “teach me a lesson”. who do you think you are!! then you run a red light because you are in a crazy rush to get who knows where. I hope you ran out of gas on the way!! and you mister black acura man. you who thought that the double park rule does not apply to you!. of course not!! you can do whatever you want, while I need to sit in traffic be!cause you could not pull over by the pump!!!!! Brooklyn is not for me. *rant over* whew! that actually felt good!

June 3, 2014 3:47 am at 3:47 am #1028364Little FroggieMemberDon’t let it get to you. I remember when I learnt how to drive (sad day for New York, its people, places and things) they played a video of how a seemingly nice guy metamorphoses into a scary demon behind the wheel.
Another clip they showed was of a mad cow (I mean driver) steadiy honking behind a car. At the first possibility he cuts in front and rushes, speedily past… all to end up at the same next light!!
Cool it guys…
June 3, 2014 6:23 am at 6:23 am #1028365HaLeiViParticipantSomething I’ve been seeing more and more lately is drivers that stop right in middle of the road to let off a passenger with packages, although there is ample space to pull over. Often, there are three open, legal parking spaces, but it doesn’t enter the mind that there are other people around.
June 3, 2014 9:56 am at 9:56 am #1028366jewishfeminist02MemberWe recently drove to Monsey for a wedding. I was shocked by the way people drive there (not to mention the way pedestrians just stroll along the side of narrow streets as if they’re asking to get hit!)
June 3, 2014 1:39 pm at 1:39 pm #1028367dial427436MemberHaha Monsey drivers are that bad because where do you think a lot of them are from, take a guess. They have all been moving in for the past decade and they keep coming!!!
June 3, 2014 9:02 pm at 9:02 pm #1028369ChaimyParticipantA little thought I have. Before you started this K turn did you just decide to do it with traffic behind you or in front of you, or was the street clear and this person with the white van came out of nowhere and just didn’t want to wait? Making a U or a K turn is time saving for you, but what about all the traffic that you block and make everybody wait?
June 3, 2014 9:44 pm at 9:44 pm #1028370To be or not to beMemberno , I am a new driver and waay over cautious. maybe I was doing it to slow…wait aminute ARE YOU SAYING IT WAS MY FAULT!!?? IMPOSSIBLE!!! MEEE!!!CANT BE
June 3, 2014 10:29 pm at 10:29 pm #1028371writersoulParticipantI hope you’re not talking about me, jfem02… have mercy, I’m new :).
Anyway, I live in Monsey and while I’ve been in places with worse drivers, I absolutely am terrified of driving (even during the day, let alone at night) on these busy streets (306, 59, etc) with people walking right on the side, jaywalking, etc. Motzaei Shabbos in main Monsey is the worst- chassidim coming back from their later maariv minyanim, still wearing their black Shabbos clothing, crossing streets, without reflectors. (This has nothing to do with their being chassidim besides for being less likely to drive and more likely to daven later maariv, just BTW.) The extreme lack of streetlights also helps make night driving around here a kind of hair-raising experience.

August 17, 2014 3:48 am at 3:48 am #1028373To be or not to beMemberMalbim, how do they drive in Austin? will they let me drive like a new Yorker?
August 17, 2014 4:08 am at 4:08 am #1028374MalbimMemberTo be or not to be, they are great drivers, nothing like drivers where you are from.
August 17, 2014 4:11 am at 4:11 am #1028375MalbimMemberTo be or not to be, they are accepting of drivers from NYC.
August 17, 2014 4:45 am at 4:45 am #1028376👑RebYidd23ParticipantI have a feeling he was teasing you, Malbim.
August 17, 2014 4:49 am at 4:49 am #1028377MalbimMemberRebYidd23, I knew that, that’s why I responded back.
August 17, 2014 9:28 am at 9:28 am #1028378👑RebYidd23ParticipantWhich is the worst reaction to teasing according to all the rules. And I was teasing too.
August 17, 2014 12:29 pm at 12:29 pm #1028379To be or not to beMemberI am not a new Yorker per se, just asking if you will let me drive like one ( I don’t, see above)
