A store cannot “charge whatever they want”. Chalie Hall got that part right, about how much a store may charge.

Well, yes and no. The store can charge what they like, but if it’s over 1/6th, the customer may have recourse to recover the excess price in Bais Din.

As far as me not knowing the halacha in overcharging. I admit I never learnt those Halachos, and since it doesn’t pertain to me, I probably won’t. I’ve just had the live and let live attitude until now. You can charge what you want and I can shop where I want.

The halachos of ona’ah apply not only to a seller, but also to a buyer, so you should learn at least the basics.
