We had our kitchen painted before Pesach and I accidentally got some paint on a skirt and a sweater. Any ideas on how to remove it?
May 29, 2011 4:48 pm at 4:48 pm #772144minyan galMemberSorry Gefen: I have never found anything that will remove paint from a fabric, especially now that it is set. Occasionally, if you can get to the stain while it is fresh (still wet) some of it may be removed. Anything that removes paint, such as turpentine, will usually destroy the fabric. Have you done an internet search? Google “removing paint from fabric” and see what comes up.

mother in Israel – thanks – i will try the dish soap and alcohol.
I realize I should have taken care of this much sooner. Hopefully, it’s not to late to fix it.

May 29, 2011 7:07 pm at 7:07 pm #772148ItcheSrulikMemberSometimes if the paint was half dry and didn’t really set in you can flick it off with a razor blade (be careful not to cut the fabric). If not nail polish remover will work but too much will destroy the fabric.

itchesrulik – i did think of nail polish remover – maybe i’ll try that too.

May 29, 2011 9:34 pm at 9:34 pm #772151Mother in IsraelMemberSt. Moritz is great for removing stains, but I did manage to ruin a jumper of my daughter’s that way. You should test the inside first to make sure it doesn’t damage the sweater.
