How long after opening a bottle of wine will it still be good? I remember seeing that wine lasts for 24- hours or so the problem is that most people dont finish a bottle of wine immediately after opening it unless they are serious drinkers or theres a few drinkers at the table so what do you do when you open a bottle for kiddush and know that you wont be finishing it at that seuda?
I have bottles of wine (still used) that were originally opened years ago.
We keep them until they turn to vinegar.
It depends on the wine. If its a sweet wine it probably won’t make a difference how long ago it was opened. Dry red wine IMO gets bad already by the next day. Though most people can’t tell the difference either way, so you could probably use it for a couple weeks.
Good (meaning dry) wine goes bad quickly. Cheap (meaning sweet) wine lasts longer, especially if refrigerated.
wine is good for about 24 hours and drinkable for about 48 hours. if you put it in the fridge you can squeeze a whole week out of it and maybe a little more. of course you need to let the wine warm up to the desired temperature before you drink it.
Wine stores inexpensive rubber corks and small vacuum pumps. By removing air from bottle and sealing it stays longer. To open, squeezing the cork releases the seal
Can you use wine weeks after opening for cooking? I have a really good wine that I opened a couple weeks ago for shabbas and I feel bad throwing it out.
