10 room apt. on 2 floors, including 2 bathrooms. but we had already cleared out the upstairs 2 bedrooms completely, cuz we were gonna re-model/fix-up but it’s too expensive. so that leaves:

6 rooms plus hallways, 2 staircases, porch, steps, bathrooms.

i thought this is one of the questions that you don’t ask people – too personal. can’t believe mods let it go through. 😉

binahyeseira~ you can ‘ache’ for my aches here on this thread! J/K! 😉

with my bulging discs from T10 through S1, arthritic toes, double knee replacements, double heel spurs, etc. AND the whole family coming over BARUCH HASHEM 🙂 (dunno yet who’s gonna be here for the whole Yontif, or which meals), hubby & I are gonna need all the help we can get!!!!

my DH went to bake matzahs earlier today, & along with the shopping he’ll do– that’s his part in Pesach preps!! :-O

oy!! I don’t wanna be a ‘debbie downer’ here!! believe me, there IS a smile on my face!! 😀 … happy cleaning! 🙂

In my opinion, most of the cleaning that goes on before pesach has nothing to do with halacha. It is just about wanting to clean up.

    So,

    A. Maybe decide whether this is the best time to be doing this.

    B. Give your husband a break if he is not as interested in cleaning. (While of course he should help you clean for any reason, you should be upfront about your motives.)

the question is do you clean or do you dig deep looking for a dust flake?

i do regular cleaning in the bedrooms and living room since we do not bring food in there. the kitchen and dining room get a major workout.

If I were making decisions, it would be no cleaning anywhere except the dining room and kitchen, and freezers.

    Everywhere else just bedikas chometz.

I did some stuff I SWORE I wasn’t doing for Pesach, because it is Spring Cleaning, not chometz-seeking. But I still felt it was l’kovod yom tov, so I am very happy I did it. One example, I painted my front door yesterday, with my son’s help. Sounds like it would be a snap, two rollers, a can of paint and voila! But –

men tracht und Gott lacht. The painter’s tape would not stay stuck, so the paint got on the edges of the brick, my front door mezuzah case, all over my skirt hem, (it’s ok, even though it won’t come out, as much as I “Goop”ed it, the skirt was down to the floor anyhow, so I can shorten it a little), the porch is now speckled because the tape did not keep the plastic I put down, in place, etc. etc.etc. The Goop got most of it off. I was only worried about the Mezuzah, anyway, and it’s fine. We had a great time, it took a couple of hours for a number of reasons, but it was so worth it.

Things like these make me feel I am doing something special, not just turning my house over, but actually “inviting” yom tov in. I know it probably sounds very corny, and the cynics in the CR are all nodding their heads in agreement right about now, but I think that Positive Pesach Perception attitude is the difference between loving and eagerly looking forward to it as I do each year, or dreading it and wishing it were over already. Anyhow, in case I am way too caught up to think to say it again, I wish all of us and all of Klal Yisroel a zeesen, kosher Pesach, filled with much joy and anticipation of the final Geulah.

Yes, Oomis, I like the way you put it down. I think that’s the difference between the first and second sons. “What’s all this drudgery for?” – that says it all! We are cleaning because we are lucky to be chosen to do HaShem’s bidding. A mitzvah just for us to elevate ourselves.
