On average even the boys who are both learning/college/working now and in shidduchim…how many on average yrs do guys spend in yeshiva meaning bais medresh, isreal etc…also how important is the yeshiva they went to…bc girls can be totally different then their schools–is the same true for guys?
December 20, 2010 11:14 pm at 11:14 pm #719794eclipseMemberI hope my post h.s.yeshiva boys stay learning for as long as possible–at least until they get married,if not longer. So long as they take it seriously,it refines them.
If a bochur isn’t learning “for real”,then the next-best “career choice” would be something in klei kodesh(ex.safrus, or being a rebbe for an age they are good with).
If neither full-time learning, nor the above type of jobs fit the young man, he should at least try to work in a POSITIVE SEVIVAH.

December 21, 2010 11:28 am at 11:28 am #719796eclipseMemberMy ex learned in kollel for years…with my blessings. After what I endured(no details),I learned that learning doesn’t make EVERYONE into a ben Torah. But I did hope for the “learning forever” as a girl, because SOMETIMES a person can really, really shteig.

December 21, 2010 1:56 pm at 1:56 pm #719798tzippiMemberThere’s learning for x number of years, and there’s learning for life. I think we all hope our boys and men learn for life, even if they have to do something else from nine to five.
