a family that is pretty well to do (not that i can judge their financial situation, but they are willing to pay for tutoring) is asking me how much to charge to tutor their daughter hebrew… the are conservative-ish. any ideas?

make sure your’re not ripping the parents off. If you don’t have experience, don’t charge more than 20 an hour.
October 18, 2011 12:08 pm at 12:08 pm #818060happiestMemberA tutor for a highschool age girl (usually a regents course) charges in my neighborhood between 85-95 so assume that you wouldn’t charge as much as that and if you do not have a degree… I think 60ish makes sense but I am totally guessing right now.

I think these prices are outrageous!
I know it’s not babysitting, but come on!
A teacher can charge a higher price as this is her field of expertise. Still, considering a teachers salary is probably in the range of 40-50K, at most, a year, paying 60-80 per hour seems steep (especially because usually, many hours of tutoring is typically required to help students).
I think anything more than 40 or 50 is inappropriate to ask (unless you’re the greatest thing going).
