Hi there Im sure you all know about the law by the Reshaim: drafting Yeshiva Bachurim to the Army. Is there a way an American bachur who is an Israeli citizen as well, to get out of the problem?October 13, 2014 6:54 pm at 6:54 pm #1035305oyyoyyoyParticipant

I assume you mean you want to learn in peace and not be an activist opposing the medinah and that you are not ineligible for military service for some other reason. There are many fine yeshiovos in countries not controlled by zionists. If you are a hareidi opposed to military service, living in Eretz Yisrael is like being on the front lines in a war, and while there is much zechus for a soldier to be “kravi” (as the zionists say, in their war with the goyim), if you want to learn in peace it is best to be “jobnik” (as the zionists refer to those who want to be in the army but not do anything that might get them shot at) by learning elsewhere.October 13, 2014 9:10 pm at 9:10 pm #1035307Sam2Participant
Apply for a Ptur. You’ll probably get one. If you don’t, don’t learn in E”Y past the limit and find a Yeshivah somewhere else.October 14, 2014 3:56 am at 3:56 am #1035308ovadiayosefrocksParticipant

Where can I apply for a Prtur? And what is the limit?October 14, 2014 5:22 pm at 5:22 pm #1035309Sam2Participant
I don’t know all the details. You might have to go down to the draft office to find out. I do know lots of Israeli-Americans who got a P’tur for 1-3 years, depending on the situation.October 14, 2014 6:22 pm at 6:22 pm #1035310charliehallParticipant

The enemy is Hamas. Not the people protecting us from them.October 14, 2014 7:29 pm at 7:29 pm #1035311akupermaParticipant
The amount of damage Hamas can do is negligible. At worst they can force Jews out of Eretz Yisrael. Not quite the end of the world. We’ve survived that.
The worst the medinah can do is cause Jews to abandon Torah and Mitsvos. That would be fatal.
Hamas is like a sprained ankle or a pulled muscle or a mosquito bite. Zionism is like cancer or AIDs – which often aren’t painful at first, but are likely to be be fatal in the long run (unlikes the Hamas type illnesses which are a mere annoyance but not life threatening).October 14, 2014 7:54 pm at 7:54 pm #1035312jewishfeminist02Member
God-fearing Jews will never, ever abandon Torah and mitzvos, medinah or no.
And you’ve overlooked the tiny detail that Hamas is on a slaughter campaign. Not exile, slaughter. Why don’t you try telling the families of Hamas victims that their loved ones’ deaths are “a mere annoyance”.October 14, 2014 8:11 pm at 8:11 pm #1035313ivoryMember
It’s not so simple! A pulled muscle or minor annoyance doesn’t kill you. Hamas are murderers! They kill you quickly not like cancer or AIDSOctober 14, 2014 11:10 pm at 11:10 pm #1035314147Participant
