My home is like an apartment. My neighbor and I share a bedroom wall.
I can hear my neighbor’s bathroom plumbing, music playing, and sometimes other noises.
It’s quite possible that my neighbor might hear the billion 6am, 5:48am, 6:12am, etc. morning alarms that I sleep through. I set multiple alarms because, well you know, I sleep through a few before waking up.
I wonder if my neighbor can hear my alarms… it’s possible… but what if he can hear them, and isn’t a fan of said sounds?
I need to live. I’m not blasting music, which.. ehem, sometimes I have to hear…
Am I a terrible person that I just don’t care?
By the way, if everyone just plastered their walls with a sheet of marshmallows, we’d all live in soundproof homes.
Thank you 😊

It seems to me that you do care, otherwise you wouldn’t have brought it up.

October 26, 2017 9:44 am at 9:44 am #1390098Avram in MDParticipantIs the need for multiple alarms in the morning because you sleep through the first few perhaps related to the loud music?

Good point.
Did you get any complaints?October 26, 2017 3:06 pm at 3:06 pm #1390545👑RebYidd23ParticipantYou could try a silent alarm, and give him a pair of headphones as a gift.
October 26, 2017 7:40 pm at 7:40 pm #1390716LightbriteParticipantRebYidd23: I gave up my silent alarm…. Getting a bed that flips over at 6am isn’t my cup of tea. I got so many bruises from being knocked on the floor that my friends became concerned. They thought that I had a ghost in my house. Crazy!
October 26, 2017 11:29 pm at 11:29 pm #1390805LightbriteParticipantIs it true that you can marry someone who sleeps through his or her alarm, and it becomes really annoying?
October 26, 2017 11:30 pm at 11:30 pm #1390808👑RebYidd23ParticipantThere are those rings that you wear on your finger.
October 27, 2017 7:53 am at 7:53 am #1390875LightbriteParticipantEeeks! “By the way, if everyone just plastered his or her walls with a sheet of marshmallows, we’d all live in soundproof homes.”
October 27, 2017 7:54 am at 7:54 am #1390876LightbriteParticipantAnd you wake up by those rings? Where do I get such a ring?
November 12, 2017 6:06 pm at 6:06 pm #1401803Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantMaybe you should try going to sleep earlier.
Personally, the early morning alarm clocks would REALLY, REALLY, SERIOUSLY bother me!
The blasting music wouldn’t because I am the one playing it. I did ask the landlady about it though, and I told her to let me know if bothers her. I didn’t realize that you could hear it though 🙂 – sorry about that!Maybe you should ask your neighbor if the alarms bother him.
November 13, 2017 10:58 am at 10:58 am #1402095funnyboneParticipantTell the neighbor that for chanukah you would like a light alarm clock as a gift. They are expensive but are great!
November 13, 2017 12:07 pm at 12:07 pm #1402149blubluhParticipantConsider applying some sound-absorption foam composites to shared walls. A product like “Quiet Barrier” or “Sonex” (check local building codes) might do the trick.
