I hate all you big fat jerks.

You all knew I learn daf yomi, and not one of you reshaim thought to tell me that daf yomi is skipping rosh hashana and learning yoma inexplicably. And now I’m 2 weeks into the wrong mesechta!

Whose the am haaretz? The people who skipped rosh hashana? Or the people who learn in order like Hashem said to.

It’s an honor to know that you’re thinking of me… keep up the good work! I’m not even gonna tell you what comes next, hopefully you’ll still have me in your thoughts!

    1. Most people here dont learn daf yomi.

    2. This is not a valid reason to hate us.

    3. Not all of us are big.

    4. Not all of us are fat.

    5. Not all of us are jerks.

    6. I’m not at all insulted. I actually didn’t tell you on purpose.

Guys, he’s not talking to us. He’s talking to the big fat jerks.

In other words, if you’re insulted, then that says something about your self image, no?

The title thread describes my feelings exactly but not because of Daf Yomi. I guess I’m not quite so helig.

I’m here to stand up on behalf of all of us “big fat jerks.”

Poppa, What ever happened to personal responsibility. It is not for others to teach you how to live your life. It is your job to educate yourself.

On a side note, do you live under a rock?

    #1019675

    “I’m learning the wrong mesechta”

    no such thing.

Popa, the order of the Daf Yomi is just like the Seder Hamishnayos. Look at the Meforshim there for a reason.

My Tfilon app made the same mistake like you, so two great minds…

Anyhow, you’ll probably have more time on Chanuka to catch up. Now you see how important it is to Shmooze here about the Daf.

No, I don’t live under a rock. I interact with many people right here. How was I supposed to know they are all big fat jerks?

PBA: YOU ARE THE BIG FAT JERK for not knowing that daf yomi is learning Yuma. In every shul there are a million signs about daf yomi. If you didnt know, than you are the problem. lol

PBA: There’s a logical inconsistency here. You say that you’re talking to everyone. You also say that everyone is a big fat jerk. I am one of everyone.

Fat, probably. Jerk, maybe. But I’m only 5’2″.

And I don’t learn daf yomi.

    #1019683

What with such language? Someone (alleged to be) learning should express himself a bit more refined. I think.

popa- so what? theres no such thing as going off, just continue learning and then do yoma, you are bound to meet back up with everyone else one day. just be proud of your learning dont do it for the purpose of “finishing” do it for the purpose of learning.

    and dont insult people.

your doing a beautiufl thing by learning gemora everyday.

Popa doesn’t learn like the turtle; he learns like the hare. He runs ahead, takes a nap, and runs ahead again. Therefore, if he is in a different Masechta he can’t calculate how much to catch up, to be up to date.

Are you learning “Daf Yomi” or “The Daf”

If you’re learning Daf Yomi then you’re on schedule, but if you’re learning The Daf then you’re out of bounds. Since you didn’t know what’s The Daf then I guess you’re learning Daf Yomi, keep on going.

This thread is offensive to people with weight issues. They might not be jerks, but the phrase “big fat jerks” implies that a disproportionate number of overweight people are jerks in comparison to the rest of the population.

This thread may also be offensive to those who view themselves as jerks. Vulnerable Narcissists in general have a hard time dealing with self image, and calling them fat may trigger an anxiety attack.

As mentioned before, the order of Daf Yomi follows the order of the Mishnayos, not that of the printers of the Vilna Shas. While the order of the Gemara seems to make more sense, the order of the Mishanyos always goes from Masechtos with the most Perakim to Masechtos with the least number of Perakim, in descending order.

I was only half joking. In our society even the most prejudiced people don’t discriminate against or belittle other races, females ( if they’re male), people with disabilities, or people of certain colors (separate from race, including red hair), at least in public. But somehow it is perfectly acceptable to discriminate against overweight people and to mock them and call them names. It is offensive to overweight people when “fat” is used as an insult, because it implies that being “fat” reflects negatively enough on one’s character to be an insult.

Oh. So if the daf yomi always does yoma before RH we have no chiyuv to tell PBA. I thought that this time around they changed the order. We are all small, skinny, nice people.

For the record. In the pejorative “big fat jerk”, the word big and fat are qualifying the word jerk. The alternative would be if it said “big, fat, jerk”, in which case the person would be all 3 of big, fat and a jerk.

Thus, it is saying that you are are very much of a jerk–not that you are a big fat person who is also a jerk.

I take it you havent been to a seforim store in several weeks. just go to the daf yomi section to see what is currently on display. on the bright side, when they finish rosh hashana you will back on track, since you have a 2 week head start on that massechta.

Forgot to ask? why would I think to ask? Do I ask if today is daf 17, or do I assume that since yesterday was 16 that today is in fact 17? (It is, of rosh hashana, and it said you will all be judged for not telling me)
