If you know,by word of mouth, the inside scoop of nice ehrliche people looking to rent out a 3 bedroom apartment, rest of details not on public forum ,please post how I can obtain the info.

Regular channels have not led me to the right apt. yet.

    Thank you.

What? I have to speak to my people friends? But the roaches are the best informants, they’re everywhere! JK!

Don’t worry I have people friends too =D

(That was for the roach comment and wasn’t meant to be serious or have anything to do with what I said I’d do)

    eclipse,

There are online bulletin boards, i.e. Yahoo! shul email lists, that you should check out.

    Been there,done that.

I need a word of mouth, person to person recommendation

People either don’t accept Chaylek Ches or think all single Moms are deadbeat tenants.

…or think all single Moms are deadbeat tenants.

    You mean they’re not? 😉

Seriously, if that’s an issue, try coming prepared with documentation proving income, and or assets, and or a guarantor.

    Hatzlocha!

Eclipse: I wasn’t able to get information about any places but I was given a suggestion. Have you tried talking to a broker (I think that is what they are called) directly rather than looking at advertisements? I do believe there are brokers who deal specifically with C8

Yes,I have one”#8″ broker looking, saw one apt.from him,he still has me on his list. But maybe I should have another one looking same time?

I didnt know you have section 8,

if you still need a place, my in-laws have an apt (that’s for section 8) but they don’t want to throw out their tenants yet

so if they do and you still need a place, i’ll keep you in mind (the tenants they have now brought bedbugs, and they themselves admit the apartment is too small for them so when they leave and my in-laws bomb the place we’ll be in touch)

    and yes it’s in Flatbush

Btw how many kids do you have (my wife wants to know)

    3 bdrms,no bugs,takes Chaylek Ches,ok to raise kids there?

I will check it out…who knows where I’m meant to land up?

Eclipse: yeah it would probably help to have more than one broker on the case (just make sure there aren’t any schedule clashes)

D.Y.,I try,but it has to fit into the dialogue somewhat! And sometimes, that’s not the reason.

Also, there were ple.who were willing to trust me,of course, but the apartments were either tiny or FRIGHTFUL.And I am not exaggerating.

Mbachur, thanks, but I can’t really answer that online,I’m sorry. And from what I’ve heard, once there are bugs, they always come back.I know this sounds funny–but I am more scared of bugs than people.

And from what I’ve heard, once there are bugs, they always come back.

Even bedbugs? I’d double check that before I dismissed an otherwise acceptable place, especially since you’re having such a hard time.

not if its bombed and cleaned thoroughly (I hope)

and I know what you mean abt being more scared of bugs than people, we were in a quality inn recently and before i even touched the matress i said we should check for bedbugs

    and chayav,

section 8 is housing for families that can’t pay rent themselves so the gov’t subsidizes them

whoops forgot to sign (gonna take some getting used to)

D.Y. I have very few requirements!!

Enough room for us, and no bugs!

What’s the point of moving to a possibly bug-problemmed apt.?

Besides,I skipped dwelling on the fact that I did nothing to deserve having to move…and hey!Are YOU MY LANDLORD?

You are beginning to sound alike…

I don’t intend to sound ungrateful, mbachur;in fact,I appreciate the honesty.

Section 8 pays PART and raises the tenant’s portion whenever they’re in the mood.

Eclipse: what I mean is even though you would be having two (or more depending) brokers working at the same time, I wouldn’t schedule more than one viewing at a time (per viewing not per broker). Now that I am thinking about it, if one broker doesn’t know about the other(s) what would happen if they showed you the same house? …

I had a brand-new beautiful apt. in Passaic with a fantastic landlady, but SOMEone started making problems…I can fight for it,but I’d rather just find a local “nest” so I don’t have to deal with all that. Also,my kids are b”h doing well here,so unless I MUST uproot them, the more stability the better.

if you dont have to bother the children, then you should rather not. it’s so hard for them to start again, from scatch. that’s my opionion. i mean friends and school and neighbors…. all in all stick to the same city if you could.

I didn’t mean to imply that you’re too picky, only that there seem to be too few apartments! As far as bedbugs, they are unfortunately very common now, and my understanding is that a past infestation would not be a problem unless there is carpeting, but do your own research, I don’t know this first hand.

D.Y.I don’t really know myself, but if it has to be “bombed”,it was a full-blown problem. You can’t imagine the degree of my fear of bugs!

Why do most women fear bugs? I think humans are bigger than them. No my house isn’t infested. I get ants once in awhile, but I get rid of them. Recently, I’ve seen some stink bugs flying around, but I saw right before the winter them all over the place in Jersey, maybe some came into my house for the winter. Dunno!
