Would one fulfill their obligation by giving a ice cream in a cone?

(Cholov yisrael and pas yisrael, of course)

Sounds like one portion to me.

You need two Manos, two ice cream cones should be ok.

    How about two scoops?

Even in a chocolate dipped waffle cone?

Mah nafshach – if an ice cream cone is one min, two ice cream cones is still one min. If it’s two minim, you don’t need the second one.

DY, Why do you need two Minim?

As I commented on this thread

    GOOD shalach manos idea

“Lior bagels (plural) are two items. You dont need to berachos or even two minim (though lol DY) You need two manos = portions. Assuming a bagel is a portion, two bagels is a perfectly valid shaloch manos. See Mechaber 695:4 where he identifies “shtei manos basar” as a kosher Shalach manos.

That being said, as discussed in the kezayis thread, generally we dont try to fulfil mitzvos to the bare minimum, as the mechaber explictly says in this case “vechal hamrbeh lishloach lerei’eim harei ze meshubach” “

    GOOD shalach manos idea

However, it is clear that requiring items with two separate brachos is indeed a myth.

According to Rabbi Fuerst you can give mustard and ketchup and be yotzei.

Do red velvet cupcakes and vanilla cupcakes count as two different minim?

Gamanit, I think so, although there might be shittos against it.

The poskim talk about two parts of the chicken i.e. leg and wing.

If that’s not okay (in which case the mechaber might mean two totally different varieties i.e. beef and veal) then perhaps this isn’t either. Probably yotzei, l’maaseh.

But the question is whether it’s one or two manos. Does it work like in hilchos brachos? Can I give chulent if the pieces are big so that they require separate brachos and therefore it’s two entities (meat and potatoes), but not if the pieces are small so that its a single entity and requires only one bracha? Or is chulent always two manos, or always one?

RY, this too is discussed in the poskim (??? ???? ???”?). I think this might be better because when the ice cream is finished, you eat the cone by itself (and unless it’s a tasteless wafer cone made only to hold the ice cream, it has its own chashivus).

two ice cream cones is still one min & hence can both be consumed @Seudo Mafsekes not violating restriction of 1 food at that tragic Seudo {Only scheduled twice during next 8 years}.
