July 19, 2011 10:52 pm at 10:52 pm #961109deiyezoogerMemberThe “best” tanis I had was when I called up a former chavrusa from yeshivah and for six hours straight (remember it was a taanis, no coffee break) we reviewed what we learned 10 years before in yeshivah.
July 19, 2011 10:58 pm at 10:58 pm #961110ZeesKiteParticipantAnd I had my luck of spending 3 hours on my feet out in the sweltering sun by my mechanic. Then comes along a fellow and gulp down a cup of cold drink. In my presence. I almost fainted. Really!
July 19, 2011 11:15 pm at 11:15 pm #961111charliehallParticipantGo to an area with a shorter day. I’m in Europe what the fast ended at 10:37pm local time! My fast ended up being 22 hours — almost as long as Yom Kippur!!!
July 19, 2011 11:32 pm at 11:32 pm #961112workingParticipantMaybe read about why we fast. It will ake it mean something and it will make tome go by.
July 20, 2011 12:10 am at 12:10 am #961113oomisParticipantI tried focusing on the reasons for this fast, and the tragedy that already happened even before today.
July 20, 2011 1:01 am at 1:01 am #961114blablaParticipantSLEEP! Nothing better!
July 20, 2011 12:28 pm at 12:28 pm #961115am yisrael chaiParticipantMake the day MEANINGFUL rather than let the day slip by…
Choose extra ????? & do it in a niftar’s name (I chose Leiby Kletzky). R Goldwasser mentioned even smiling to people & saying hello to those whom you wouldn’t ordinarily greet. Split sefer Tehillim among others to complete the sefer that day.
There are a myriad of possibilities to choose.
