Again, the opening post, from the “I’m new here!” 🙂 to the way the post was worded just smacks of social engineering. (For those who have never heard this phrase, please google it.)It’s pitch-perfect. I’m not saying Wonderstruck isn’t real. I’m just saying if I wanted to elicit information, this is the EXACT post I would write- a smiley face, a reference to a best friend and a compliment playing to people’s egos to get people off their guard. As someone who has studied security, reads articles on social engineering hacks, and has friends who suffered from previous social engineering expeditions here on the CR, I’m vigilant. If some teenager gets hurt ch”v from info posted here in the CR, the resulting publicity will probably shut down the CR and ywn. Do we sit back and let it happen?

Jothar makes a good point. The CR might feel like a warm fuzzy safe place, but it still is the Web, and no matter how vigilant the Mods are, we need to be careful.
