But <Insert extremely racist comment that cannot really be said without trying.>
How do people do this?

July 2, 2015 2:45 am at 2:45 am #1091397newbeeMemberI dont understand your problem. People say that when experience and logic unfortunately causes them to acknowledge the validity of a stereotype without an emotional malicious desire to do so.
Example: Im not trying to be racist, but why is it that pink people are usually so loud in public places when green, yellow and purple people usually keep their voices to a moderate level, certainly after the age of 25? I wish it wasn’t true, but experience has unfortunately caused me to see the validity of this stereotype of pink people.
July 6, 2015 1:11 am at 1:11 am #1091398👑RebYidd23ParticipantYou’re still racist.
July 6, 2015 5:08 am at 5:08 am #1091399Sam2Participantnewbee: Nope. It’s just your racist self. All stereotypes are actually just confirmation bias.
July 6, 2015 2:03 pm at 2:03 pm #1091400lesschumrasParticipantNewbee, ironically there was a letter in the Flatbush Jewish Journal that was just like yours but it used frum Jews in the Catskills stereotypes. Based on your comment, the writer was being accurate, not anti Semitic
July 6, 2015 7:53 pm at 7:53 pm #1091401newbeeMemberSorry Sam, its not my racist self or a confirmation bias- just common sense. You are wrong again, as usual (oh wait, is that confirmation bias also :))
I hope the letter in the Jewish journal was referring to the stereotypes of Rachmanim, Bayshanim, and Gomlei Chasadim
July 6, 2015 11:57 pm at 11:57 pm #1091403lesschumrasParticipantNo, the stereotypes were being loud, cutting lines, and strewing garbage. It was just anti-semetic as your racism.
July 7, 2015 12:39 am at 12:39 am #1091404pcozMemberAre Jews a race? There are probably not too many blood ties between yekkes and Taimanim.

It depends how it was written. If they wrote all Frum Jews in the Catskills, then it was racism. If not, then Not!
July 7, 2015 5:04 pm at 5:04 pm #1091406PosterMemberThat is totally being racist without wanting to sounds bad.
Like pple say “I dont mean to gossip, but she is going through a really messy divorce”….”
Does that make it not gossip?
“Nisht oif shabbos geret I’m planning a trip to Atlanta on Tuesday”
Does that make it muttur to discuss on shabbos?
To me sounds like the same idea….
July 7, 2015 5:59 pm at 5:59 pm #1091407newbeeMemberlesschumras: I hope the yiddin there dont make a chillul Hashem and understand and respect the sensitivities of the long-time local residents that they dont want their rural and quiet community turning into another brooklyn with over-population, loud noise and pollution. I wouldn’t want it either, who would? Thats probably why they live there in the first place. I also hope they respect the zoning regulations and culture.
I never said it wasn’t racist, I said its being racist without malice. And as long as you treat each person as an individual, there is nothing wrong with saying most or many people of this genetic, ethnic or religious group share a common trait- either for good or bad.

It’s the truth! Nowadays, the style is, if you don’t like what s/o says, you call him a racist. I think that’s is why the US Supreme Court has become extremely liberal.
July 7, 2015 7:04 pm at 7:04 pm #1091409miritchkaMemberWe are all racist to a certain extent.
I had a conversation with a friend about racism. She was saying how she is so accepting of all types and doesn’t judge anyone based on their skin color. I then asked her the following: If were walking alone at night, and there were only 2 streets to get you home, which one would you take? The narrow street that had a group of ex: Middle Eastern, African American, etc.. teens hanging out? Or the other narrow street that had a group of Caucasian teens hanging out? I wont mention her answer, but she understood what i meant about racism.
Its interesting, I used to judge a certain sect of Jews and say that all of them are apikorsim, based on an incident that happened in my neighborhood at that time. But then i got to know some people and found out later they were a part of this sect. It opened my eyes and made me realize that most of this sect is not like this. Its just a small group of them that make a bad name for this whole sect.

Don’t pull all of us in on your racism. You’re the racist one.
Your example makes no sense, unless you have also equalized the other factors. You and your racist friend are both picturing the caucasian teens as a bunch of pleasant looking politely dressed young men sitting around on lawn chairs smoking pipes, and imagining the african american teens as dressed in gang dress, acting rowdy, sitting on cars, and drinking malt liquor out of paper bags.
But equalize the surrounding factors, and why would anyone choose one street over the other, unless in the middle of racial tensions?
Racist.
July 7, 2015 9:07 pm at 9:07 pm #1091411👑RebYidd23ParticipantBragging about how not racist you are is like bragging about how many puppies you didn’t kick. Only someone with a tendency to kick puppies has to brag about not kicking puppies.
July 8, 2015 12:33 am at 12:33 am #1091412newbeeMember“Based on your comment, the writer was being accurate, not anti Semitic”
Its very possible he was being accurate if the writer was not referring to all the Jews but rather to a certain number of them. If so, it is very sad that they made a chilul Hashem.
July 9, 2015 9:49 pm at 9:49 pm #1091413👑RebYidd23ParticipantIt’s just as wrong for a Jew to be racist as it is for a non-Jew to be antisemitic.
July 10, 2015 12:27 am at 12:27 am #1091414lesschumrasParticipantNewbee, what was the sample size upon which you based your observations?
July 10, 2015 12:31 am at 12:31 am #1091415newbeeMemberHow do you define racist and anti-semetic?
That saying pink people over the age of 25 on average blast rap music in their car more than purple people over 25?
Or that its saying “I dont like pink people.”
Or thats its not hiring a pink person for a job, simply because they are pink.
Or that you murder pink people.
July 10, 2015 2:03 am at 2:03 am #1091416👑RebYidd23ParticipantHow do you define wrong?
That you steal?
That you kidnap babies?
That you murder people?
That you burn down entire cities?
July 10, 2015 9:12 am at 9:12 am #1091417newbeeMemberRebYidd23,
Its hilarious to me how you feel its morally corrupt even when ones treats every individual individually to say a certain trait, behavior or proclivity applies more to one religious, genetic or ethnic group than another. True silliness in its finest form.
July 10, 2015 3:54 pm at 3:54 pm #1091418👑RebYidd23ParticipantWhen you make generalizations you do not treat people the same.
July 10, 2015 5:17 pm at 5:17 pm #1091419newbeeMemberSpeak for yourself, you are generalizing about me that I can’t separate knowledge regarding a majority to action regarding individuals just because some other people choose not to- racist.
July 10, 2015 6:52 pm at 6:52 pm #1091420👑RebYidd23ParticipantI don’t know what race you belong to. I just know this about human psychology.
July 10, 2015 7:51 pm at 7:51 pm #1091421newbeeMemberThank you Dr. Freud. Human psychology, isn’t that generalizing to all humans? Why not include gorillas and dolphins and dogs and spiders? You are a species-ist. I think thats immoral.
I guess Hashem was being anti-semetic when He called klal yisroel a stiff necked people. And since you equate anti-semistism to racism, I think its wrong to say Christianity in the middle ages and Islam today is more violent religion than Judaism, thats racist.
I dont mean to sound racist, but in country x pink people make up 13% of the population yet account for 40-50% of the murders, this fact must be censored though, because its “racist”.

RebYidd23, I disagree with you, respectfully of course, as you compare apples with oranges. People who are anti-Semitic, traditionally are so, simply because we are Jews. Esav Sonei Es Yaakov. Halacha l’maaseh
When a Jew is racist, it is usually because of the reports of violent crimes that are publicized,or a bad personal experience we might have had, and/or something negative we have repeatedly observed being done by a group of the people who evoke “racist” feelings in us. That is something that is based in reality.
Most Jews are hated by non-Jews for no reason other than the fact that they are Jews. And though tragically there are Jews who commit Chillulei Hashem, there are far fewer of them than the majority of people whom we fear to see walking down a dark street at night. I would still feel safer running into Bernie Madoff, than into OJ Simpson. If that makes me a racist, so be it. I am sick and tired of politically correct sycophants. When I see Muslim women walk down the streets of our mostly Jewish neighborhood, my first thought (I am sorry to say) is that I hope she doesn’t have explosives under her burqa. I feel this way for a very sound reason – their proven track record. Racism? Some people call it profiling or common sense.

July 10, 2015 10:07 pm at 10:07 pm #1091426Sam2Participantoomis: And people who believe the many antisemitic news reports might see you and worry about their stuff also.
July 12, 2015 3:44 am at 3:44 am #1091427☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantReally, Sam? There are studies which show different test score averages for different ethnicities; does that make the people who did the studies racist?
July 12, 2015 4:37 am at 4:37 am #1091428Sam2ParticipantDY: Meh. Almost all test score averages even out towards the middle once you correct for socioeconomic status. It’s not about race. It’s about opportunities growing up.
July 12, 2015 4:45 am at 4:45 am #1091429☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI don’t disagree. The fact remains that there can be, and sometimes are, differences, and whether they’re inherent or environmental (and you’re correct in this case that it’s the latter), it’s not bigotry or hateful to point it out if the observation is made objectively, without malice.
July 12, 2015 5:43 am at 5:43 am #1091431Sam2ParticipantDY: The observations I was responding to may have been without malice, but they were certainly not objective.

That doesnt make you a racist. However choosing Jefferey Dahmer over my black coworker would deffinlty make you a racist. and not a very smart one.
