    many words with a kawmatz, i.e. kall (meaning “all or every”), are pronounced as AW, even in sefardit. We don’t pronounce it as “kahl.” There are heavier and lighter Ashkenazic ways to pronounce an aw sound, as in “how awful,” Noo Yawk (Bronx or Queens), which is a more defined and obvious aw sound. It is also pronounced by other Ashkenazim as a cross between that aw and ah, or as an ah in most cases. You are right that pronunciation, accent on syllables, etc. can alter the meaning of a word.
