Yes – they pop up all over the place. On my email, any shopping sites I use, the weather site, etc….. Really disgusting pictures on the side of my screen. It’s always bothered me but recently it has gotten MUCH WORSE!
AND NOW I see them even on YWN and other frum sites!!!! Is anyone else having this problem? I thought the frum sites have a way to block them. HELP! I can’t take it.
gefen, did you miss the gedolim’s admonishments regarding internet usage?
I thought YWN had their own ads… they seem to all be frum ads on my computer.
try downloading adblock and adblock plus (worked for me)

Do what alwaysmile said. Get the AdBlock extension for Chrome or Firefox. I’ve always used it to keep my eyes pure and neshama holy, and it’s working quite well.

I have had these on my computer for some time (constantly, even on YWN) – I sent MORE than once emails to YWN to try get rid of them, but they were there today. My filter (Windows Family Safety) blocks most of them out most of the time, but every now and again (I don’t understand why) they come up – mainly adverts to dating sites.
How do you get adblock?
Get the adblock ad blocking app.

You have spyware on your computer
Idea- hechsher for websites. Only a matter of time. Mods get ready to hire a mashgiach temidi (if u wanna be certified glatt, pas yisroel, yoshon, Shomer shabbos, cholov yisroel, trumos and orla etc) 😛

yes if you are getting these type of ads when on YWN,
you have malware on your computer. they are not comming from YWN, but from a rogue program.
try malwarebytes, superantispyware, or other cleaner to see if you can get rid of it.
Gefen, your computer has probably been infected with a virus of sorts.
From a bit of experience i say:
#1 – a virus, install & run avast which is the best free at the minute.
#2 – the way adverts work is that once you have clicked 1 they will always show simirlar to attract your interests.
my advice: run antivirus and clear all cookies & cache and remove any plugins or add ons on your browser (than reinstall the ones you need and trust.)

ps. if this is a shared computer and it has not got a virus i would strongly reccomend putting a filter on as somebody is obviously using it for inappropriate content.
I agree. YWN has adverts for womens clothing on mannequins that clearly display the female form. Totally inappropriate for a yeshiva site.
Also, when YWN radio plays a song that I do not like I flick over to one of several similar sites. One of them, Jewish Hits, had an ad advertising the Mormons! It said Click here to improve… I immediately emailed them approx a month ago questioning this and said if I do not receive a reply I will delete their bookmark, spread the word and bln never visit them again. And guess what – I am still waiting for a reply. Makes me wonder…
