If you’re a senior citizen there are organizations out there that can help you. For example, some people install a rail to hold on to while in the shower. Of course, the aforementioned mat is a simpler option. But there are chesed orgs out there that will help you get a rail, often at zero cost.August 1, 2012 10:57 pm at 10:57 pm #894308oomisParticipant
A slippery soap is a slippery slope. Get those decals that go on the shower floor, to give traction, or wear shower shoes. Best yet, get a safety rail installed on both sides of the shower.August 2, 2012 5:46 am at 5:46 am #894309ohr chodeshMember

Falling in the shower / bathtub can be really dangerous. Here’s one instance:
My wife’s father slipped in the bath while showering, fell on his head, landed up unconscious in the bathtub and was niftar. Her brother found him there the next day (probably – it could even have been a day earlier… he lived alone).
He also had diabetes (type 1), so it could be that he was unconscious but living and the diabetes led to the end.
I never met him – it happened a few weeks before the first date.August 2, 2012 3:04 pm at 3:04 pm #894312yitayningwutParticipant
I don’t think it’s a good idea.August 2, 2012 4:01 pm at 4:01 pm #894313mewhoParticipant
many accidents happen at home. a woman i know was standing on a small step ladder to change a bulb and fell backward. she broke her knee in multiple places. couldnt walk for almost a year.
anytime that there is water involved one should be extra careful. it does become very slippery when one showers and extra care should be taken to thoroughly wipe the soles of the feet.August 31, 2012 12:27 am at 12:27 am #894314This name is already takenParticipant

Once I fell and whacked my head so hard on the shower wall I got a concussion. They said in the ER that the reason why the other side of my head also hurt is because my brain bounced off my skull. Ow.
