For example, some people install a rail to hold on to while in the shower. Of course, the aforementioned mat is a simpler option. But there are chesed orgs out there that will help you get a rail, often at zero cost.

August 2, 2012 11:10 am at 11:10 am #894311Falling in the shower / bathtub can be really dangerous. Here’s one instance:
My wife’s father slipped in the bath while showering, fell on his head, landed up unconscious in the bathtub and was niftar. Her brother found him there the next day (probably – it could even have been a day earlier… he lived alone).
He also had diabetes (type 1), so it could be that he was unconscious but living and the diabetes led to the end.
I never met him – it happened a few weeks before the first date.

August 2, 2012 4:01 pm at 4:01 pm #894313mewhoParticipantmany accidents happen at home. a woman i know was standing on a small step ladder to change a bulb and fell backward. she broke her knee in multiple places. couldnt walk for almost a year.
anytime that there is water involved one should be extra careful. it does become very slippery when one showers and extra care should be taken to thoroughly wipe the soles of the feet.

September 2, 2012 3:03 am at 3:03 am #894317gaslightMemberOnce I fell and whacked my head so hard on the shower wall I got a concussion. They said in the ER that the reason why the other side of my head also hurt is because my brain bounced off my skull. Ow.
