There is a trend among people to cast blame on their misfortunes or lack of social standing due to being raised by people who were born post-Holocaust who were seemingly unhinged and lacked warmth. Is it a low hanging fruit? How much can we really put on that. Were all survivors lacking in the ability to love?

They have very remote connection to any Jewish idea of suffering and challenges. They feel entitled to all the benefits of free society while not feeling any obligations because they learned that they are following emes.

I know I can’t understand someone else’s experience especially if their childhood was rough but your a damn adult. Get out of bed. Wake up. Fine something that will make you happy and stop crying over stupid things.

Or found some other excuse. I know many people who were children of survivors themselves. Many of them have acknowledged difficulty due to their parents trauma. Not a single one of them blames their parents experiences for his own misfortunes or lack of social standing. So why would the grandchildren of survivors be doing so the same? The answer is because the grandchildren grew up in a generation where it was more acceptable to blame others, particularly your parents or education for your misfortunes or lack of social standing, whereas the children of survivors grew up before that became a common mentality.

July 23, 2025 12:58 pm at 12:58 pm #2428351ujmParticipantWhat sort of “lack of social standing” are you referring to?

I personally think there is the opposite effect
Since the holocaust generation didnt have food they more or less force fed their kids and that made their kids entitled
Just my humble opinion

July 24, 2025 3:34 pm at 3:34 pm #2429369none2.0ParticipantCoffee addict it has nothing to do with how socioty changed and how much everything became mass produced from China and eaosou excessivable, Instagram and the focus on materialism? At all?
