Because internet is also bad for adult generations, and we we have to abide by the famous adage:- “Preach what you practice”.

    Define internet!

Do you mean paying for things with plastic cards, or increasingly via a cell phone, so much that paper money and coins are increasingly for collectors, not shopping? I doubt that’s what you object to.

Do you mean the possibility of a hospital to access your medical records held elsewhere before they give you a fatal dose of a drug you are allergic to? I doubt that’s the problem.

Probably you object to use of graphic browsers to see “inappropriate” images – though in all fairness, people found ways to find inappropriate images long before there were computers, or photographs. Some of the oldest man-made objects known appear to be pornographic (and if you hold by our Torah as an historical document, that should not be a surprise).

However the increasing trend of younger people to get information in short bursts, with a high graphic content, rather than from reading and understanding texts is a real problem. Since frum Jews spend a lot of time pouring over documents, we’ll probably be the last ones with decent reading skills.

Most parents have no idea of the dangers of the Internet. That’s all.

I defined it above, 10 year olds being able to go on the computer and do what they want all the time……at least, that how I grew up….but i turned out ok

I mean like watching movies, music, books, online gamkng with strangers (that ussually curse or so things i wouldnt write here if my life depended on it) is that ok for a 10 year old? To see dating???? In all the tv shows these days, there is romance or dating (except for barney) even if its for little kids….these are just some examples…

having heard some yeshivish people talking about their dates, i think many of them could benefit from watching a few episodes of “see dating.”

I think the internet is very, very good.

One shudders to think how much more boring my life would be without it.

I thank Hashem for the internet.

    Never seen it…whats see dating????

    #957183

Ya well alot of people beg hashem to get rid of it….remember that car crash that happened 6 months ago with this rosh yeshiva and his whole family and they threw the youngest out thecwindow so she survived? The internet…thats what all my friends blame it on….how bad the younger generation is with it…..and when theh said that i blushed SOO much

akuperma: Everything you said was 100 percent spot on.

    With one minor exception:

Since frum Jews spend a lot of time pouring over documents, we’ll probably be the last ones with decent reading skills.

I’m sure you meant “poring.” I hope you meant “poring.” Please tell me you meant “poring.”

I think there are both pros and cons to the internet. I don’t agree with those who say it is only bad because I think it is very useful and helpful in many ways. I don’t agree with those who say it is only good because it has many pitfalls that are easy to fall prey to.

Thats right, but whats your opinion o people mamish growing up with it, having an iphone when theyre 10 and not being aware of the dangers that the internet has– besides its good points, does a kid understand that? That is my question

The Internet can be a vehicle for equally great sins and mitzvot- up to the user to decide how to use it and his/her trust level of him/herself.

Gd put the Internet and global media in the world so that everyone can praise hashem instantly around the world when mashiach comes. The messiah YouTube video will get a billion hits.
