I was just looking at the Internet filters and there are none that are free. Can anyone recommend a cheap/ free one that is reliable?
Thanks in advance.

Yeshiva tuition, shul dues, food proprietors pay a fortunate to have their place kosher. And it’s all marketed through guilting the masses. Any challengers? K-9 is really not practical, it slows down computers. Would you download a virus?
May 31, 2012 5:09 am at 5:09 am #877299not a tirchaParticipant@lakewhut almost every anti virus program has some form of filter program attached to it that is a free feature. Check the settings of your anti virus program. (I am assuming you are running a anti virus program. If you aren’t, it is in your best interests to get one unless you are using a Mac.)

Pretty basic, haven’t used it in a long time, but I have installed it for people in the past and it’s quite good.

BLOCKSI is my favorite as it can be customized. If you don’t have Google Chrome, search it; it’s easy to find.
The extensions in the store only work for Google Chrome but most people prefer it as a browser anyway.

May 31, 2012 4:56 pm at 4:56 pm #877307agentParticipantWe tried to download the K9 protection but every time we tried to download it a virus kept popping up and it slowed down the computer. Can anyone help me on that?
May 31, 2012 6:29 pm at 6:29 pm #877308flyerParticipanttry opendns – it is the same thing that some of the frum filters use and it is free.
May 31, 2012 8:29 pm at 8:29 pm #877309apushatayidParticipantDownload it from their own website or a reputable site like Cnet. Check your anti virus software settings.
May 31, 2012 8:32 pm at 8:32 pm #877310apushatayidParticipantK-9 won’t slow down your computer if you have enough memory. If you barely squeek by as it is with system memory then adding any filter will slow you down, unless you do your filtering at the router level (open dns for example).
