April 28, 2013 3:25 am at 3:25 am #963334youngladyMemberYes, it is getting reallllly annoying
April 28, 2013 3:31 am at 3:31 am #963335VogueMemberyes
April 28, 2013 4:08 am at 4:08 am #963336WIYMemberYes. I think there’s gotta be less intrusive ways of bringing revenue to the website. Lets go shnorr for ywn lol.
April 28, 2013 5:23 am at 5:23 am #963337gefenParticipantok – So I see that so far there are a few who agree. How can we get them to stop?
Shall we rebel? 😉
Shall we boycott? 😉
Any ideas?
WIY – like ur idea. so let’s go to their website to shnor for ywn. it’s gotta be BIG BOLD pop ups!
April 28, 2013 1:37 pm at 1:37 pm #963338Torah613TorahParticipantYes it’s annoying but other sites have been doing it too.
There’s no such thing as a free lunch.
April 28, 2013 1:41 pm at 1:41 pm #963339jewish sourceParticipantyes
April 28, 2013 1:54 pm at 1:54 pm #963340gefenParticipantT613T – Yes other sites have it too (though not ones I visit) but YWN never did before and IMHO I really feel they should stop. It’s really annoying. I don’t mean to sound so negative and rude. I hope I’m not coming across that way.
Happy Lag B’omer – everyone!
April 28, 2013 2:50 pm at 2:50 pm #963341rcParticipantYES
April 28, 2013 4:48 pm at 4:48 pm #963342gefenParticipantOK – more “YES” answers.
ATTN YWN: Those of you in charge of the home page and pop up ads – HEAR OUR PLEA! (No -we are not davening to you – that we save for Hashem) But please get rid of those big ads that we have to “x” out in order to see your home page. Sometimes it even pops up more than once while I’m trying to read.

April 29, 2013 5:04 pm at 5:04 pm #963344Bored214ParticipantYES!! they’re so annoying! I know they bring in a lot of revenue but by the looks of the amount of adverts on already on the site they should be pretty ok! I wish they’d stop trying to make so much extra at our expense!
April 29, 2013 5:14 pm at 5:14 pm #963345HaLeiViParticipantWell the pda pahe doesn’t have it, so I don’t mind.
But they should keep in mind the curve. More visitors make advertising worth more. More advertisements, more revenue but less visitors. You have to watch those numbers carefully.
It is still way better than drudge, that refreshes as soon as the page completed loading, in a slow connection. At least in FireFox you can go to the Scratchpad and type: clearInterval(timer);
April 29, 2013 5:28 pm at 5:28 pm #963346🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantoh come on! You can’t possibly be complaining that you have to spend a millisecond or two clicking the ‘x’ on the advertisement before reading threads or news. If you were in that much of a hurry you wouldn’t be on this site which is more ‘down time’ related. If the pop ups came as you opened your cell phone to dial your doctor, then you would have better cause for complaint.
Patience is a virtue.
So there.
😛
April 29, 2013 6:03 pm at 6:03 pm #963347a maminParticipantWhen the pop ups open on my cellphone there is no X to get it off. I have to play around with it for a few minutes….Not worth the hassle…
May 1, 2013 4:46 am at 4:46 am #963348🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantif you look you should see that the upper edge says something like “press here to close” so you don’t need the x.
May 2, 2013 10:07 am at 10:07 am #963349haifagirlParticipantI’d rather have the people who advertise via pop-ups pay for this site than have to pay a membership fee.
May 2, 2013 11:57 am at 11:57 am #963350squeakParticipantPaying a membership fee is not on the table- no one would for this site or any similar site. But users of a free service tolerate being harrassed to some degree while getting their fix and that is their (our) quasi-payment. The question is what the limit is before they individually decide its not worth it and stop visiting. I’m sure the owner would notice if that was happening.
May 2, 2013 2:48 pm at 2:48 pm #963351Torah613TorahParticipantAgree with squeak. Besides it disappears on its own after a few seconds, which makes it a lot less annoying than other sites.
YWN provides a lot of free content and entertainment, it’s only fair they should get something out of it.
May 2, 2013 2:59 pm at 2:59 pm #963352☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI’m sure the owner would notice if that was happening.
Not necessarily, if the price he’s paying isn’t a reduction in hits, rather inhibited growth.
May 2, 2013 9:45 pm at 9:45 pm #963353ToiParticipantyes, its really annoying. it drives me nuts. stupid capitalism.
May 2, 2013 10:22 pm at 10:22 pm #963354squeakParticipantDY- sustained volume would be a nice thing, most people would think, and growth is perois dekel. You feel otherwise? So I assume that you don’t mind if your wife stays fat, as long as she inhibits further growth?
May 3, 2013 2:13 am at 2:13 am #963356☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIt should be a math question; will the increased revenue from the annoying ads be more ir less than the revenue from the growth.
He’s perfectly within his rights. I hope, for his sake, that he’s not being penny wise and pound foolish.
May 3, 2013 2:28 am at 2:28 am #963357squeakParticipantPound foolish? Everything with you is about weight?
May 3, 2013 3:39 am at 3:39 am #963358☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantEither weight or money. Is there anything else?
July 3, 2013 5:46 am at 5:46 am #963359yitzchokmParticipantI got a new phone and it’s become very annoying. My finger cant seem to press the little button, and i keep ending on the advertiser’s site. (gasp!)
