Aside from suffies and latkes, what’s wrong with frying things in one?
December 19, 2019 2:16 pm at 2:16 pm #1812325Reb EliezerParticipantWhy woud it be assur? The mitzva of eating healthy should override any issur.
December 19, 2019 2:16 pm at 2:16 pm #1812335lowerourtuition11210ParticipantIs it Assur? Well since it is not in your Bubbies recipe……..for you maybe. As to others there is no issur melacha on Chanukah. Is it assur to warm up latkes in a regular oven on Chanuka?
December 19, 2019 2:18 pm at 2:18 pm #1812345banjobobParticipantthey are completely assur, they are far to healthy to be used by a jew!
(air fried broccoli is actually really good though, you should try it)December 19, 2019 6:01 pm at 6:01 pm #1812487👑RebYidd23ParticipantCertain uses for an air fryer are assur, for example, using an air fryer to burn your enemy’s possessions.
December 19, 2019 8:38 pm at 8:38 pm #1812504GoldilocksParticipantI suggest that what Rabbi Debbie really meant to ask was: Does eating air – fried food exempt me from my obligation to eat something fried in oil?
The answer,of course, is no. Eating oil-fried foods on Chanuka is an important minhag, and should not be neglected.
That said, once you have eaten the required amount of oil-fried foods, you are of course welcome to fry the rest of your food in air.December 19, 2019 10:45 pm at 10:45 pm #1812511Reb EliezerParticipantGoldilocks. it does not say drench it oil which is unhealthy, when the minhag was established, there was no air fryer which happens to use some oil.

December 20, 2019 12:26 pm at 12:26 pm #1812558GadolhadorahParticipantTrachtgeet: Whats wrong with ‘glow in the dark” latkes. They are very popular among certain segments of the tzibur.
December 21, 2019 6:50 pm at 6:50 pm #1812670RebbeDebbieParticipantGoldilocks what is the minimal amount of deep fried food one must eat? A kezayis? It is a regular sized kezayis, or the kezayis people use to not have to wash/bentch for pizza?
December 22, 2019 10:39 am at 10:39 am #1812814lowerourtuition11210ParticipantTHERE IS NO CHIYUV TO EAT FRIED FOODS. THEREOFORE THERE IS NO MINIMUM AMOUNT ONE MUST EAT!!!!!!
December 22, 2019 11:24 am at 11:24 am #1812834RebbeDebbieParticipantlower why are you yelling at me (using all caps)?
December 22, 2019 3:40 pm at 3:40 pm #1812894lowerourtuition11210ParticipantFor emphasis!
